another happy sstt user...

Just installed the sstt. 1400mile on the odomiter

Used a gt2(gtech pro clone) to measusre.

stock 0-60 5.4
sstt 0-60 4.9
sstt 2nd try 0-60 4.6 only a 2000rpm launch *updated* outside temp 33F
- i had more time to get ready. No traffic behind me to worry about. No merging into traffic. No gravel on the ground. maybe a little sand.

these number are not supper acurate because i tested these on different roads. All i did was pull over to a breakdown lane on the highway an let it rip. i have 18.8 all around with snow tires so i think i can do a lot better. I could have done better but i had to merge into traffic and watch my rpm.

Butt dyno gives it a

Install was easy. Got it from jon@themshop at a very good price. Great service. He gave me a tracking number 5 minutes after i paid him.
It came with a guitar pick but i quickly lost it during my first atempt to install.
The pick is somewhere under my engine bay. Turn around and found a penny on the floor. I think the trick to this isstall is to find a rusty penny. You can wedge it under the clip much easier without having it fall into the engine bay.

One question though... is the sstt going to touch anythiing hot down there?

Not close enough to worry about heat issues.

I have SSTT and a filter and took a 4S Carrera the other day...
Are the streets slippery in Boston now?

Thanks for the review. You will get much better times with better tires and better road conditions. Im also going to order the SSTT once winter is over.

Sounds great. Enjoy the boost! I just purchased an SSTT today after getting a break-in oil change. I am just waiting for it to ship. I had been reading, asking lots of questions, and considering all different tunes but went w/ SSTT because I have an extended warranty (which ruled out Dinan) and want to be able to quickly remove a piggyback at will (even if I'm broken down on the side of the road, in the pouring rain, waiting for a tow to the dealership). I'm not a drag racer, or a mechanic, so it seemed like the best choice for me.

Hey, I've read that some people have noticed a slight drop in oil temp after installing the SSTT. Whereas Eurobahn has noted the opposite. Let us know if you notice anything one way or the other.

NOBODY here points out the obvious flaw....DUDE - BUY A BEATER FOR WINTER!! My baby is stored during the winter and I drive my uber luxury 93 Olds Cutlass Ciera with 135k on the clock. Yeah, it's great for picking up the 80 year olds...crushed velour..mmmm.

I have the SSTT and like everyone else I'm completely satisfied with it. Of course...kinda pissed that there hasn't been any update on the 'Stage II' which makes me question of such an animal truly exists.

Congrads to everyone with the SSTT and keep those Bimmers safe during winter.

Peace,

Dean

I called Eurobaun Performance the other day and they said the Stage 2 is about a mth. away. From what I was told, it won't be much of a HP or TQ increase as it will be a broader power band, with boost coming on sooner and staying later.

I personally would like to see about another 10RWHP & 30RWTQ with a less drop off in the upper RPM range.

I kind of wish the redline was a little lower, as the way upper range is very dissappointing. While you can short shift manually in M mode, if you are in SP mode and your really on it it will keep it in that "dead upper range" until redline is reached. I wish SP mode was a little smarter and shifted at peak TQ instead of after it drops way off.

Broader power band = an increase in area under the torque curve which is a very good thing, much better IMO than an increase in peak HP or TQ for most driving conditions.

Got the car back from service and had to re-install the SSTT. Wow, the car felt so much slower before the re-install that I didn't even want to drive it until I put it back in. Seriously! I asked the wife if she wanted to drive my car to work...she couldn't believe I actually asked her instead of her having to ask me.

Happy to say that I am a pro now at the SSTT install (2nd time). 2 minutes maximum is all it takes for me. Took about four minutes the first time. Flashlight and small screwdriver (tied to a thin rope or something in case it drops) is all you need. I close one eye and look down at the connector with flashlight in left hand. Right hand lifts the latch with screwdriver and pulls connector out. Insert SSTT. Piece of cake, reminding me of why I paid extra for the SSTT and not the JB2. Not to take anything away from Terry's fine product, but I need something that is super easy to install like the SSTT because I'm no mechanic, and just plain lazy when it comes to a JB2 or Procede type of install.
