18's or 19's in NYC...need your opinion...

Obviously, the style 230 19's are pretty nice looking...I would have to say I like them over the regular sport 18's. Being NYC/Tri-State area...our roads aren't great..

What would you guys pick?

I would probably have to get the Wheel/Tire Insurance either way ($795)...so maybe I should go 19's since I will have the insurance.

Just wondering if anyone has any real experience...

the roads in NJ/NY are terrible, I cringe every time I run over an unavoidable pothole. If you get the 19s, get some hemorrhoid creme too, its gonna be a rougher ride.

NYC/NJ Roads aren't any worse than our Toronto roads, IMO. If you've got the insurance, roll with the 19's.

19s for the look but personally i went for 18s because the roads here in montreal are really bad and after i saw a friend of mine in a g35 bent his 19" rims badly because of a pothole, i decided to go for 18s... its up to you though... i mean as with every mod, it usually carries certain inconveniences. if you lower your car for example, you gotta deal with not being able to clear certain bumps, if you get bigger rims, there's also a higher chance of curb rash, if you mod your engine, your warranty may be void... it just depends on how much risk you want to take.

I have 19's and drive to the city and back with no problems...Obviously you have to watch out for those craters as big as your head ones, because it will definately do damage!!! But then again it will do damage to any size tire...If you have the insurance, don't sweat it....19's look awesome!

If you can manage to drive carefully and ... not too fast, you can definitely run 19s. I've run over huge potholes several times and no bent rim. If you can't do that, I'd get a 18" wheel with a decent profile tire.

You can get away with 19s no problem in NYC. We have plenty of customers running that sizing and even 20" right in the city. IMO, 18s are just not worth it.

If you are willing to watch for potholes like a hawk, you love the look of 19's, you don't mind the slightly harsher ride, and you are willing to either buy tire/wheel insurance or be prepared to fix a bad tire or wheel, then you should get the 19's.

If you aren't willing to do all those things, you should get the 18's.
