Official confirmation of BMW iPod Adapter Kit

My local dealer was able to fax me over a "Parts Bulletin" announcing a new BMW iPod Adapter Kit for the E90 (and E91)!

It uses an seperate external display to show track info etc. Up here in Canada it's MSRP is $653.50 CDN (about $600US). Of interest it mentions that a "MOST bus" version of it is also scheduled for mid '06 release. This version will apparently use the vehicle's own display to display track info (as I believe did the kit for the E46 model) instead of the seperate external display.

I'll try to 'digitize' the parts bulletin and provide a link of it to show all specs etc.

Garage List
2011 BMW M3  [4.50]
2008 BMW 335i  [0.00]
2006 BMW 330i  [0.00]
1994 BMW 325i  [0.00]
that sounds good as a temporary solution but i'll wait till they integrate it with iDrive.

also, it seems like a lot of money spent and too much extra shit installed just to have your ipod semi-integrated. if you buy an ipod together with this interface, you're running your costs to up to $1,000 (if you count in taxes and labor) as opposed to getting a 5-dollar AUX cable from radio shack...

I totally agree with you about the price and it being a temporary solution. I think the 'mid -06' solution they mention near the bottom of the bulletin will be much more integrated and also less $$.

The BMW iPod kit for the E46 is around $250 I think.

Two words for connecting the iPod to your car: AIR CLICK.

Uses RF signals to remotely control your iPod, so you can leave it in the center console w/lid closed while maintaining operational control of the iPod. I first found it as a way I could control my iPod while cycling. (Road cycling, as in Lance Armstrong - not Harley Davidson)

Works great!

Yes, AirClick is a cool solution.

For me though I'm looking for a 'transparent' solution much like the BMW adapter for the E46's is >>> iPod goes in the glovebox, controlled via stock BMW steeringwheel controls, track info displayed on BMW CD player display. No extra cables, third party gadgets, remotes etc.

From the sounds of the bottom comment of that bulletin that's what the 'mid 06' version will be like for the E90 as well. Fingers crossed.

Does this mean that the mid '06 solution will be compatible with cars without iDrive, but with bluetooth?
