Bluetooth voice quality

Before I begin, keep in mind other phones work PERFECT... I tested it with both an iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 with NO problems.

However, I upgraded my phone in cash to the Motorola Droid Turbo, and when it had Android FW 4.4.4 it worked fine for the first few calls, then it would start getting a "gated" effect (or like this)... Now that my phone received a routine update to 5.1, the problem got even worse where not ONE single call would be clear, and that's regardless of whether I paired+unpaired, have HD Voice, video call, and/or enhanced privacy on or off.

Now online resources aren't exactly much help, so I was wondering... Is this the fault of my car, and can it be helped by a CCC/total firmware update? Thanks in advance.

P.S.: Based on the picture below, does anybody have a better definition for the word "irony"?

I'm curious about this too. My bluetooth is terrible. It connects sometimes and when on a call, the other side says I'm breaking up. I'd like to know a fix too. I have CCC and retrofitted the bluetooth.

In for a solution.

Try it with your wifi turned off. (If your wifi is already off, then disregard. I don't know which Android icons indicate Wifi; I'm an iPhone user ).

Some devices will use the same antenna for wifi and bluetooth. An old phone I had did just that and it sounded exactly the same on my bluetooth headset when wifi was turned on.

Just my 2 cents.

Not sure about the droid turbo or whatever phone you have but there have been some reported Bluetooth and wifi issues with the latest android update. I first heard about it just yesterday regarding Samsung Galaxy S4s.

With that being said... My S6 and Moto X 2nd gen both work fine on my Bluetooth, at least for call quality. Only issue I ever have is with call history, contacts, etc sometimes not syncing.

Well... Does anybody have a definitive way of updating the TCU/MULF's firmware (e.g. something I can download)? I'd sure like to try that, because for the past months I've been having to connect my phone to AUX and hold the phone for the mic . The problem happens with and without Wi-Fi, and FYI, iPhone and Android uses the same icon (the fan-shaped icon).

I hardly use my Bluetooth (factory!) because everyone says they can hardly hear me and it sounds like crap to on the other end. Very frustrating as it sounds amazing through my end. I have the Logic system.

Any advice? This is via S3, S4, Note 2 and now S5.

Not that I'm aware of... I was tempting to update everything once for another issue, but the dealer wanted $140-300+, a high quality cable I'll probably only use 1-2 times is $99, and nobody on this form [that I know of] is willing to do an upgrade for round of beer or something (but then again I only got one reply here so it's not an accurate gauge).

I also have Logic, but it might be an issue with the mic itself; people usually hear me just fine even when I'm on a freeway that has pavement rougher than a crack-ho's skin.

It is most likely your Bluetooth module in the TCU. An upgrade might be the key but not sure how you would go about unless the dealer could take care of it. I had the same problem and replaced it with a used one and the problem went away. If you know someone with another bmw try your phone in their car.

Yes, for the series of slots/openings, it's the one on the left hand side.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I will look into trouble shooting it. It's not a huge deal but sure would be nice to not have to dick around with ear buds. I'm in sales and do lot of driving and tons of phone time...it is absolutely awesome on my end buy clients don't dig a choppy connection.

Wondering if something can be coded? I have all the software...don't know how to use it but can tackle one off jobs. Gotta use it this week to replace a frigging injector that literally just took a crap a few hours ago. 335 = love/HATE!!

I wish I could say I resolved it... I upgraded to the Turbo 2 and it worked OK after that... Has a bit of clipping to the sound but better than nothing.
