discs and pads done...

Just to let people know, rather than paying bmw £300-£500 for this work you can (for an e90 330d at least anyway) get a set of new ATE front discs off ebay for £54 delivered and a set of front BMW textar/pagid pads from eurocarparts for £40.
Easy job to do yourselves by the way.
(although set aside half a day for your first time by the time you've cleaned up the hub, caliper, brake shield, caliper bracket and anti seized everything)

Ps bmw online quote £199 just for the pad change!

Hi my service indicator is showing up as needing front discs and pads im going to do them myself and was just wondering once I've done then will need to go to a garage to have the service settings adjusted or does the car recognise ive done it by the sensors that are attached?

No you can do it via the stalk. The new sensor wont reset automatically though. Theres a guide on the net somewhere, think i put the key in, held the odo for a bit, scrolled through using BC on stalk to the front pads preseed bc 'reset' option came up, held bc for a few secs and it then reset to 70,000 miles....this will change as i drive when the sensor relays the actual mileage left as i'm sure they wont last for 70k!

excellent thanks just tried and as expected it reset but went back straight away to needing to be replaced. Anyone able to recommend somewhere online or elsewhere to get discs and pads relatively cheap as im selling the car soon anyway for a newer version. i dont want really rubbish stuff but nothing too pricey either. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Cheers.

You don't have an item number for your discs from eBay do you?
