Will these rims fit?
This is a great website!
I have the 330 with SP and looking at rims that are 18x8.5 (37 ET) and 18x9.5 (43 ET), I will be using the OEM tires 225 & 255. After using the calculator (which is awesome BTW) it tells me: 19mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 7mm. I don't know if it will fit right, look right or rub? Would anyone know? Kudos to the creator of the calculator, you're a genius. ![]() |

The creator of the calculator would be MarkE90M3. He's pretty much THE wheels/tires expert in my book. For anyone that is upgrading to aftermarket wheels/tires, you'll see how useful the calculator is in due time.

hey, thanks for the words on the calculator, i find myself using it all the time, thought i'd share it.
Anyways, as for your question, its difficult to compare aftermarket wheels and tires to the OEM specs since they aren't really pushing the limits at all. I went and grabbed some numbers from aftermarket wheels which will push the wheel sizes out more. As of now, BBS wheels are being sold as x9.5 +40 with 265s for the rear of the E90. If you compare your wheels to the BBS, yours will actually still be on the conservative side. So I wouldnt worry, you should be ok! So in your case, your fronts will fit just fine and your rears (especially with 255s), should fit as well with room to spare.

and I would have preferred 17". Tires are a lot cheaper too. |

Largest size stock wheels on 325 are 17", and non-SP 330i come with 17" too. I doubt BMW would put something on the car that significantly degrades performance. |

You want smooth ride.....go with 225/55/16......otherwise....move up for performance. The thicker the rubber....the softer the ride.

The sport package does not come with different brake calipers... you must be mistaken, the 330i comes with the same brakes reguardless, so 17" will fit if the right offset and all that jazz. 16" will not clear the calipers, the 325i will take a 16" rim. Good luck! (I agree there are a lot of people on this particular forum that are ridiculous)! You can use the stock 17" rims, and there are numerous people trying to upgrade to the sport rims from non-sport cars so I am sure you can swap with them and get some additional cash... just becareful!

Thanks. The reason why I was asking was TireRack has BBS CH in 17" available as an option for 325i, but not 330i (only 18" and higher), even though 330i stock are 17"s. I know that both non-SP and SP 330i have larger brakes than 325', but apparently there is no way of knowing if any given aftermarket 17"s will fit on 330i - some will, some wont. I dont like stock 330i 17" unfortunately - too many spokes, but maybe I can get a set of 158's (standard on 330xi SP), when they come out. It is dangerous to have people around who suggest 16", without having a clue really. Somebody might listen and spend $$ on a set of wheels they cant even use on their car - 330i wont take 16" for sure. |
