Whats up Squeezy?

All the video shows is how much better the M5 looks in the darker shades of Blue or Black.

btw did you actually read about the m5 crash from last month?
M5 flys off runway killing 5
He probably thought he wasn't putting anyone in danger either, M5 is a supercar and needs to be treated with a bit more respect than was shown in that video if you don't want people eventually getting hurt
Funnily enough i was one of the first to hear, i am on that forum (m5board.com). The young boy was driving like a loon like the vid i posted, merely trying out a top speed run and ran out of runway. Very unfortunate.

He was not driving like a prick in a residential area, just enjoying a monster of a car on a runway, private one at that at 3am. Unfortunately he misjudged the lenght of the runway and killed himself and 4 friends.

R.I.P

The M5 is a Brutal, BRUTAL machine, i have not yet driven one but have been a passenger in one. it does command much respect and is an intimidating machine.

I say that being an early twenties young man whose driven a few fast cars now. When i was 17 tho or 18 A fast car does not feel as fast as it does now as you dont have much to compae it too. I doubt the 18 year old lad was intimidated by the M5 at all, that coupled with inexperiance killed him.

Actually - it's a quick car, but I wouldn't describe it as brutal.

That implies the sort of seriously punishing acceleration and handling you only get with a serious track car.

e.g Radical SR3 / Caterham RS400 / Ariel Atom

The fastest car I have ever driven is a Formula Palmer Aud, which would utterly destroy an M5 on a track (in fact it would destroy just about any road car, including the most exotic supercars.

http://www.palmersport.com/cars_audi.htm

0-60 in 3.4 secs

60-0 in 1.6 secs

400hp/tonne

Taking that into a 4th gear corner at 120mph is the closest I have come to experiencing 'brutal' handling, but in honesty, it wasn't that punishing. This is because every part of that car was perfectly adapted to handle the performance.

Having recently been in an M5 that was tanked up to 140 from a standing start, I have to say that the performance, whilst impressive, is far from brutal. It's actually all very civilised.

If anything the Z4M that was there the same day was the wilder car.

Why on earth are you comparing a single seater with an M5?

Anyhow, comparing with a few quick cars i have driven or been out in.

Audi R8
DB9
Re-mapped 335d
Procede V2 335i
E46 M3 CSL
E46 M3
E36 M3 EVO
Chevrolet Corvette c5
Various Cosworths with various power (one was 460bhp)
Subaru imprezza's
310bhp 200sx

Now not many cars there, but some fast cars for sure. Even a track M3 in there.

Compared to these, the M5 is BRUTAL. The SMG SMASHES the gears soo much harder than any of them. Every gear is like MIKE TYSON IN THE back seat PUNCHING the living daylights out of your ribs.

Is would annilihalte all of them acceleration wise. From a rest or from rolling. It was an animal.

Made the Audi R8 seem limp wristed and half hearted attempt at a two seater ''Supercar''

Remember, the M5 IS faster than a Lambo Gallardo, and can keep up with (just about) an F430 Ferrari.

Now I can assure you, a car as quick as those in a saloon does feel brutal.

Im not just talking its AWE inspiring acceleration, but the way it absolutely HAMMERS thru the gears.

Can only agree with NFS, at brunters one of the EvoT lads recorded a 0-60 in 4.5 secs in an E60 M5 with 5 people on board. Inside the car `tho you feel quite isolated and "cocooned" unless you start to really throw it around, like in that video. The guys just having some harmless fun and he gets called a cock ?

Carlos, you`ll have to come for a spin when I get my car back.

The CSL isn`t a proper track car, this is (Simpsons were just finishing it for a customer, when I dropped mine off yesterday. The C/F bodykit alone was 8K)

I was illustrating what 'BRUTAL' felt like.

It doesn't feel 'Brutal' Carlos .. if it hurt your ribs you are a bit of a lightweight.

Theres a huge gulf between a road car (even hyper cars) and a race car.
Brutal in my eyes would mean things are happening so fast you don`t have time to think about it yet although react to it. You become genuinely scared without realising your scared and try as you might to keep your toe down, your brain wont let you.

Im the first person who would know that, having been in/around motorsport from a child.

But regarding roadcars, and road cars alone, for me the M5 was a brutal beast.

,Made everything else, ive driven/been out in seem tame. That is fair enough isnt it.

Carl you're right, it felt BRUTAL to you..

Mike, NFS, you're right it doesn't feel BRUTAL to you...

Now smile and walk towards the light.......

That video, like NFS said, is what I would have done when I was 17, in my Nova Sport. It does seem to be on a private road, so of no danger to anyone, except maybe the camerman at one point. However it does not impress me - very easy to do in that car, or any car with that power.

It would be far more impressive hooning it round a track.

Ref. the brutal comment - Its all down to personal opinion - Brutal for me was the Noble M400 I went out in, a real neck snapper when the throttle was burried!!

Ive yet to go out in a an M5, for good reason, as Id probably be looking to buy. In a years time or so, after I get bored of the S3, ill be looking to go back into a biggish saloon/estate again, due to an expanding family, and for me it will be either the RS4 or M5 - which a good secondhand example should be around the 35-40k mark - I refuse to pay over 40K for a saloon car

It actually looks very like the public roads around me. Little B road.

No hedgerows. Straight into the field.

For me 'brutal' would imply a car with the capacity to seriously maim you if you are not a perfect driver. Something to be approached with a fair degree of caution. Generally something with more power than grip.

So we are talking about a car with absolutely extreme limits, which rewards you by taking you backwards into a hedge if you step too far over them.

The thing about the M5 that strikes me most is the very safe and cosy way it delivers extreme performance. It's an incredibly civilised car, which could be driven by just about anyone.

In a way, that may be the problem, because it lulls people into a false sense of security. However, it doesn't snap at the limit, it gives you LOTS of warning that you are being a knob, before it bites.

In contrast, things like the track biased Porsches and many of the TVR's have limits which are difficult to reach unless you disengage your brain and they do not tolerate being driven much beyond them.

I agree not trying stop free speech and all - it just comes across as petty when people need to repeat their points of view like 9 times...

Not pointing fingers at you NFS

I think A shelby Cobra would be brutal...

Or maybe the Porche 935 I'm dreaming of, now THAT would be brutal !
