AA Xede Dyno'd, and some questions for AA

Stock was 252/295, chipped was 285/350. Running 91 octane gas at 5700ft altitude on the latest map - I was told the map for 91, 93, altitude etc is all the same. Do the gains seem about right? And is there really just one map?

Yeah, and we *are* at 5700ft. I gave it 3-4 pulls, and "drove" it on the dyno a bit, all the pulls were within 1-2whp.

Those gains seem low, their website says 55+ RWHP and 75+ Ft lbs of Torque. Also, there are a number of maps but i dont think specific to octane. R7 is the most recent map.

That seems real low to me, about half what I'd expect.

most tunes need AT LEAST a few hours of hard driving to adapt...
disconnecting battery for a few hours so the ecu can reset is not a bad idea either.

there was no reason to dyno it only after a few pulls. this = no ecu adaptation.

my opinion is to drive it at least for a few days, and drive a bit hard,
then re dyno... you should be alot happier after the second dyno.

if not, then call AA..

just my 2 cents

I had been driving on the "chipped" setting for weeks. We did the pulls chipped first, then switched back to stock. If that makes any difference?

that sounds right,
but your numbers look wrong.
did you install it correctly?

...call AA, you spent good money.

just re read this.

i am curious that AA does not have a seperate map for over 5,000 feet.
you are at 5,700 feet, so you are probably past the stock ecu
altitude adaption (which i believe is 5,000 feet).

if u do not know, at sea level the stock 335 boost is approx 8psi,
the ecu adjusts for altitude up to approx 5,000 feet, adding 3 psi.

so STOCK, non chipped/non piggy you are already at 11psi.
i do not know how much boost the AA tune adds, but BE CAREFUL.

for example, let's ASSUME AA adds 5 psi. that would mean that you are boosting
5psi + 11 psi = 16 PSI BEFORE any possible (normal occassional) boost spikes.
in this case, that would be tooo high and dangerous.

maybe your turbos are maxed out already.
maybe AA should have a LBT (low boost target map) for you.
i am no expert, but the above i stated i know to be true.
i would be very interested in what AA has to say about your altitude and what i discussed above.

btw, i am at 8,000 feet and added a IC ugrade.
at our atlitudes you definitely need it IMO, and a good cold air intake, and catless dps will help alot also.
IMHO, this is the way to build the motor, especially at atltitude,
& especially if you have an ecu tune (i have all of these mods plus JB2 and forge DV upgrade).

i do not know AA, maybe they will try to sell you their IC which happens to be a good unit.
that would be a good idea, BUT FIRST they must address your AA tune and it's lack of proper hp gains !

let me know what AA says.

good luck

AA isnt too easy to get ahold of / get a straight answer out of. Ive heard a variation of stories on what maps they offer, so I am mostly ????????

I think those gains are low as well.
What correction factors are these numbers?

If they are uncorrected then they seem fine since you are at 5200 ft above sea level.
If they are with the STD correction factor then they are extremely low.

I don't think their customer service sucks at all.
Every time I've delt with AA, they've been great.

100% uncorrected at 5700ft. I can get ahold of AA, but getting a good answer is another issue.

there is alot of merit to what you are saying.
but altitude (for me anyways) makes things more complicated.

theory re altitude is a N/A engine loses aprrox 3% of power for every 1000' in altitude.
my GUESS is that turbo cars only lose about 1% of power per 1000' altitude.
OP is at approx 6,000' so he should lose only about 6% of normal AA gain.

normal AA sea level gain is 55 whp.
following my logic OP should have gained over 50whp.

OP gained what 33whp? under above scenario he is still way off.

i am no expert, but IMHO the above needs to be considered,
comments?
