E90 crushed from behind
Man, already seeing wrecks out there. The driver who hit this car musta been admiring the car from the back too much to remember to break.
I joke, but I hope this driver's ok. Man alpine white looks good. |

That's my car in the photo. I posted it on another board. This just happened Tuesday - the car is just one week old TODAY (Thurs). Still had the dealers gas in the tank and about 350 miles. It was all I could do not to kill the bastard.

Thanks for sharing with the community your experience, though I want to express my empathy that this unfortunate incident had to occur.
If you wouldn't mind, could you please share with us how you will now resolve a situation like this. I would be curious to know what happens if such an unfortunate thing happened to me. (knocks on wood) Quote:

I'm still a little too upset about this to say much without it just profane ranting, so I will do that later. You order a dream car just the way you want it, wait anxiously for it to arrive, feel the exitement when you finally receive it, and then some dipshit takes all that away from you.

I am truly, truly sorry that this happened to you. It actually made me remember what had happened to my father in the mid-80's. He had just received European Delivery of a Mercedes Benz 500SEL and my Mom took it out for groceries the very second day that the car had come back to the States. She came back in tears with a police officer that had made a report at the scene where someone had done the same to Dad's MB. Slightly less damage, it being a larger car, but a paint job required nonetheless. It was doubly upsetting to have to see her tell my father what had happened. 'Twas a very unsettling day @ RichReg's parent's house, 20 some odd years ago. Don't fret and be thankful no one was hurt in some way other than emotionally. On the bright side, once my father's car was repaired, it was good as new. Good luck. |

Thanks. I appreciate the sympathies. At least here, I think people understand how it feels... I'll keep everyone posted on the progress while it's in the hospital.

Update
Thanks to everyone for the sympathies and words of encouragement. After being without the car for almost a month (five times longer than I had it to start with), it has been returned to me! I actually got it back a week ago today. I've held off on posting because I wanted to give it some time to assess how good the repairs are.
The body shop did a very good job! I was fortunate that it was only body damage and no mechanical parts (not even exhaust) were touched. While they did the 4 wheel alignment as the last step before giving it back, I was able to walk around under the car and see for myself - everything was untouched, unmoved and perfect. No adjustments were required - they said it was "dead nuts perfect". Rather than replace the rear quarter (ref. photo at top of thread) they "pulled" it. Replacement would have required cutting the uni-body and I'm kinda glad that didn't happen. There is a slight noticable difference to me in the way the rear quarter's tip (above the tail light) lines up with the trunk lid, I'd say maybe 1/8". I'm thinking of asking them to try and move that up - which would probably require using hydraulics or something to "bend" the quarter again. So far I don't think anyone else has noticed unless I point it out. I'm interested in your opinions... I'm also thinking of trying to sue the other driver for the lost value, but my understanding is that it is not easy to do. It seems to me that it should be - it is a tangible loss and completely his fault. Opinions? The good news is that the car feels and drives wonderful, with no problems at all. It is soooooo nice to have her back! Still getting a little "body shop dust smell" from my vents - any advice on making that go away? I'll try to get a couple of pics this weekend of the post-repair condition to put up. |

Sucks to hear, yeah the trunk looks like it could be pushed down a little or somthing on the left side. I'm not too sure. Anyways, its a good repair job. If I didn't know it was in a wreck, i'd think it was brand new.
