Finally got my car back and my UR intake installed / quick review

Not going to get too into this tonight, i'm completely beat from a long day.

Took about 1 1/2 hrs and installed my UR intake this evening white it was 26 degrees in my garage and also cleaned and sealed the right left wheel and did a few other little things.

Also just got my car back w/ a new front end look that I'll post a quick dirty photo of. It was so damned cold that I was trying to wash it outside and the water was freezing onto my car's paint before I could get it dried off.....lesson learned.

First off, the UR intake is a great piece. It fit perfectly and the install was pretty easy if your comfortable with tools. I'll try and put together a DIY later if I get a chance.

I went out for a quick drive and I will say I LOVE the sound. I didnt get a chance to really get on it since the roads were slippery but I really was loving the intake woooooooooooooshing sound and the slight blow off from the forge DV's.

Quick pics

and the new front end.....I'll get MUCH better pics once the weather warms up

Awesome Sniz, I was wondering what happened to you...The car looks awesome with the new front lip and kidneys...Yeah man I am loving the CAI also...Its an awesome piece is right...I was looking at your DV setup and the DVs look like they touch each other...I had the same problem, but I cut about 2 inches from the front hose and it eliminated the stress on the front dv...this created a nice gap between the both of them with no stress to either dvs...Here's a pic!

Next person to install the intake, pretty please look on the brake duct for part number. I'll probably get it Friday but in case I forget.

sniz,

congrats on finally getting your car back. looks great! especially the new front end. who make it and how much if u do not mind.

BTW, i keep changing my mind about whether to paint the shiny Stainlless steel cai. my cai goes in next week.

on muscle cars, the shiny chrome and chrome like parts look great in the engine bay. but on our more high tech engine bays, maybe the UR CAI painted black or the stett grey still make a statement and blend in - in a monocromatic type of look.

it is hard to tell thru pictures sometimes. some of you guys have the cai in already, looking at the engine bay, what do u think ? Stainless, black or the stett grey?

thanks

I think it looks hot especially if you have the Forge DV's because this intake doesn't cover over the DVs like some of the CAI out there. The polished cai and the DV's compliments each other along with the new bracket thats also aluminum...It makes it look very high tech!!! Hows the back....

back is doing pretty good thanks.
i was going to install cai this weekend, but playing it safe with my back and doing it early next week along with the forge DVs.

the week after i am installing injection and JB2 upgrade with maybe an H
then i am finished with all major mods i think; there maybe little things i might add, but basically i'm done.
i cannot wait for the new "switch" though (u know what i mean). that would just be icing on the cake

i will definitely be looking at your cai and DV install tips in your thread.

thanks

Here it is powder coated black for those that didn't see it in the other thread. It doesnt stand out at all like the photo makes it look, thats just the flash. Blends nicely and no maintenance!

I was thinking about just going with black powdercoat as well but now I an leaning towards anodizing the whole thing gunmetal and clearcoating.

How much extra is it to get the black powder coated one or is it the same price? Will it shield heat away from the intake or is it purely cosmetic?

that looks really nice in black! Oh well, I like shiny things in my engine bay, reminds me of my '69 Camaro which was all polished aluminum under the hood.

you and i both love muscle cars. i agree that on muscle cars, the chrome and red painted parts under the hood look awesome, but IMHO not sure it is best for our more "high tech" looking engine bays.

like i said in another thread, i am sandblasting mine and painting it either flat/semi gloss black, or the stett gunmetal/ gray color.

Looks very nice. Whats the price on these? Use your stock Dv's or did you get new ones?

What about having this piece thermal powdercoated?
