When to check oil level

I did a search but couldnt find a consensus for when to check the oil level.

Are you supposed to let the car fully warm up and then check it?
Let it fully warm up shut it down and wait 5 minutes to check it?
Check it as soon as you start the car and an oil level reading is possible?
etc, etc...
Those were just some of the responses I found on my search and I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the proper technique to check oil levels.
Thanks

Doesnt it say in your manual??? I believe as soon as you start it you can try to check it. I believe it will take a minute or two to actually work. I also think that it will not get a reading if you try to check it too soon.

Per the manual

"For a precise measurement and display of the oil level, it is necessary that the engine be at operating temperature, i.e. after uninterrupted driving for at least approx. 6.5 miles. You can have the oil level displaye while you are driving, or while the vehicle is at a standstill on a level surface and the engine is running"

They also have the picture where the oil level is in the middle and says OK underneath. This essentially would be the ideal level.

I hope that helps.

I wouldn't be too worried if I were you. I had to have my dealership top it off twice. And I only have 13,000 + miles on my car. But I think the first time, they only added a quart or two. Now, when I check my oil level, it's near the top.
