M3 steering wheel in 335i w/paddles - leave paddles off?

I don't use the paddle shifters on my 335i. On the rare occasion that I shift manually, I use the stick shift.

My question is, if I got the M3 wheel, can I just leave the paddles disconnected? Would this throw any codes? I'm assuming the paddles plug into the wiring harness, could I just leave the plugs unplugged with an M3 wheel?

Funny, picus and I were talking about this very same possibility last week. Would be interested to hear if anyone has done this. Actually, we were considering leaving the paddles off altogether.

You should try it out, then give me your steering wheel with the padles for free so I can try and retrofit it to work with mine
