Lower Fog Mesh - E92

Are the lower mesh grills next to the fogs light necessary? Or can they be removed completely rather than replacing them with black ones?

if you do alot of highway driving, i would leave it....
by the way.....if you want to replace them, you have to remove the whole front bumper (not easy)...to exchange to black ones....i on the other hand did not remove my bumper...i painted them...if your interested in how i did it, let me know.

supplies:
* small plastic bowl
* 2-4 cosmetic sponges (triangular shape)
* can of black spray paint (specifically made for plastics)
* a small hobby paint brush
Name: paint mesh1.jpg
Views: 8353
Size: 124.4 KB

* use damp clothe and ensure the mesh is clean...wipe with dry clothe and wait till completely dry
* mask off all surrounding areas of the mesh.
* tape something on the bottom of the bowl

Name: paint mesh3.jpg
Views: 8364
Size: 82.4 KB

*spray paint on an angle against the side of the bowl

Name: paint mesh4.jpg
Views: 8362
Size: 87.8 KB

* when you place the bowl on the ground the paint will pool on one end of the bowl which will make it easier when dipping your sponge.

Name: paint mesh5.jpg
Views: 8335
Size: 94.1 KB

* dip your sponge in the paint and start dabbing the mesh...take your time and make sure you get all the little nooks and crannies. Take your time and it will turn out fine. I also used a very small paint brush to get into the tough areas.
Im not sure if i conveyed the steps well enough for you to completely understand what I did and it may not sound like the best way to do it.....however it did work out for me just fine and it sure beats pulling off the entire bumper. the total time from masking to finishing took about an hour.
i did this about a month ago and it still looks great.
I hope this helped!
cheers, shiggy

Shiggy, thanks for taking the time to post that up!

It looks like I have a another DIY to take care of now.

Do you happen to have any pics of your front bumper after you painted the grills? I'm just curious how matte or glossy that particular paint comes out when it dries. Thanks.

Wow, your car looks CLEAN!

I just installed some painted kidneys with matte black centers. I'll definitely be hitting up walmart tonight for a can of that rustoleum. BTW, where do you get cosmetic sponges from?... I guess I'll look for them in the tampon isle.

I just bought some satin black rustoleum paint for plastic. I'm still debating if I should mask off the bumper or just pull off the front bumper though. I also haven't decided if I should leave the center mesh or remove it... hmmm...
