Rear speakers cutting out on Logic 7
Has anyone noticed that in the 'music' surround setting the music only comes from the rear speakers about 20% of the time (fading in and out). I am not sure if this is a defect in my system or just the surround setting modulating the rear speakers. Thanks.

Finally someone else agrees. I have been reporting this to BMW for like 2 years now since I got the car. Every time I have gotten the head foreman to ride with me, I can't prove it to him. It is almost like you have a short circuit in the wiring is the way I explain it. You have full complete sounds for a few seconds and then gone. I could have swore when I first got my car until my first software update it wasn't like this. Because it is very obvious when they work and when they don't.

+1 still having the issue. adding more fade to the rear only accentuates the issue.
makes you feel like your ears need to be popped or something.

Phew, i thought i was the only one hearing these things...
It almost sounds as if an obstruction from the path of the sound is removed when the speakers kick back in. Is it possible at all that it has to do with the positioning of the drivers head while driving? I'm no sound wave expert or auiodphile, but it seems almost all of the time i hear the rears come back "alive", my head is either positioned or tilted farther right than normal, more towards the center of the car... Likely just me giving BMW too much credit... Quote:
Btw, were all talking Logic 7 here, correct? |

Yes. If you dial the fade back 3 or 4 notches and listen to the same songs that you are noticing the problem on, it only gets more irritating.
Try with a song like Jill Scott's "Golden", if you can find it. Makes me want to scream.

Same problem here. Sometimes it scares the crap out of me. I also notice that no matter what cd's I burn with or how slow I burn them with I get these high pitched skips on certain songs. If I took that exact cd to another car or my computer the noise is nowhere to be found.
It's embarrasing when you're cruising and have all the windows down. |

I keep mine off. You gotta think about it like home theater. Should the surrounds in your home be firing if there's no action there? No. So why expect your car to if there's no musical information (as deciphered by Logic 7) there?

^ I think I'd say...if they're going to put Logic 7 in a car, it damn sure should create surround-sound in a good, efficient way. You don't pay thousands for a sound enhancement that you can't turn on and leave on. WTF is the point?
No, L7 should do BETTER. That, or BMW shouldn't use or sell L7. My Ford Focus doesn't have an issue like this. So why should my BMW? It's not asking much for features that are supposed to make the sound better to actually do their job.

I know it has been a while since people have posted on this (or at least from what I found searching), but wanted to see if anyone had a successful resolution to this issue. If anyone has a bulletin number or repair reference that would be great. I have a 2010 335i and it is driving me nuts!
For as long as they have been having this issue it is frustrating to see that they continued to offer this as an option with a known issue. If I would have known this up front I would have simply selected the base stereo and completed my own upgrades. Thanks for any help you can provide... |

i have been having the same issue for 2 months. finally fedup and took the amp out for inspection. everything looked good. put it back in and everything is back in working order. 2 days later back in the same hole. tried it again worked again, now it is no longer doing the trick.
it could be the battery i thought, but how is it possible all of us different years and mileage are complaining about the same issue. i thing it is a faulty amp that Bmw installed. We all know about the L7 amp issues with E6x. this could be the E9x version of it. please keep the updates coming.

The issue described is probably related to Logic7 processing. All out-of-phase information is sent to the rear speakers. This is by design. From my experience, the crappier the source, i.e AM/FM radio, the more this effect will occur. It should not happen with CDs, or when L7 is turned off. If it still does, then the issue is something different.
