Clear bra places?

I initially thought I wouldn't need a clear bra but after moving here I see that this was a BIG mistake. Does anybody know of a good place to get this done in the Denver area? I don't want to take it to the dealer, I'm sure they'll charge me an arm and a leg...

These guys seems reasonable. I think SID used them, too.

Yeah I used them for tint. They were pretty good. At first I didnt think I needed one either but I have since changed my mind. As soon as I can I am going in to get my clear bra.

SID, how did they end up doing the dot matrix on your rear windshield? I am thinking of going with these guys too since they seem like a decent shop and use quality tint.

The dot matrix job is decent. Not perfect but it comes up good about halfway through. So it does look uniform.

Another question for you, how do you like the 5%? Is it too dark from the inside, or does it work for you? Were they cool doing any percent you wanted over there at IDS? I like the fact that they use higher quality films than just 3M.

Yeah they will do what every % you want as long as it is availiable. I personnally am really happy that I went 5%. I like that it gives it a stealthy look. The dark tint really flows with my black car. I like that people cant see me unless I want them too. Although, with red seats and if I have the sun roof open then you can kind of see through. In the day its great but in low lit places at night it is really dark. If you are downtown or something at night then you will be fine but for example, when I park in my garage at night I usually roll down the windows......I will say one thing about IDS though, the driver side window in the corner was peeling so they had to redo it. I didnt roll that window down for a week and now 2 weeks later its peeling again. Just that window. So I am going to have them do it again and they have no problem doing it till its right. I would still recommend them. IMO go with the 5%. I got it for the look not the heat. Its good for that too though. If you want we can meet so you can see my cars tint.

Yeah, I think I want to see your car so I can make the decision, from the pics it looks pretty sweet, but I hesitate getting it that dark....I am already a fuzz target enough with the "racey" license plate.

My 335 will be in the shop next week getting a dent repaired in the rear passenger side fender where some ass-clown hit me. I was parked on the side of the road near downtown, came back to my car and there was a baseball sized dent right on the lip of the fender above the wheel. $1200 to fix, but insurance is going to cover it since it was a hit-and-run kind of deal.

For what it's worth, I used IDS as well. I believe the guy that did my clear bra and tint was Matt. (It has been a little while now, so memory is waning.) Overall, they did a pretty good job. However, I think my car might have been one of the first E90s that they've done, as they didn't realize that the second weatherstrip in the doors doesn't have any felt, so my driver window is scored to hell right now. I talked to Matt about it, and he said he would pop out the door panels and put felt tape on the weatherstrip and redo the tint, but I was a bit hesitant on him using my car as a guinea pig.

For the guys that got their windows tinted, do you have any problems with scored tint? I asked the guys at Ralph Schomp, and they were going to charge me something like $400-500 just to put some tape on the weatherstrip. That's a little nuts.

How do you rate the Huber Optik versus their standard tint film. Is IT causing the problem?

Ah, sorry, forgot to indicate that I have Huper Optik 30 on all the windows. I'm not sure what their regular tint is, and I unfortunately do not have any experience with it. I realize that the HO is supposed to be much thicker than other tints, but it's pretty bad right now. I can actually feel all the scores with my fingernail, and there are probably a good 30 or 40.

If I get a camera and the correct lighting, I'll try to post a pic so you can see what I'm talking about. There are just a bunch of vertical cuts into the tint from where junk and dirt is apparently catching in the inner weatherstrip seal and cutting into the tint every time the window is opened and closed.

This is apparently a known problem with the later E90s, as BMW made the stupid decision to use the non-felted strips on all the windows. (The earlier E90s had felted inner strips in the front doors, but not in the back.) Unfortunately, I didn't find out about any of this until after I got the tint and starting looking into the issue.

For a while, I was just trying to live with it, but it's getting progressively worse, so I'm going to have to get it corrected sooner or later. I may have to call up Matt again and see if we can work something out. I mean, I did pay close to $1100 for the tint and clear bra....

I have used IDS in my business exclusively and they are the BEST when it comes to hi-end installs. they are not cheap.
