Picking up car today & writing a check

for the entire amount, yet dealer wants to run a credit check. Hate to get the inquiry. I do understand his risk that I could be writing a bad check or cashier's check could be a fake, but I've bought from the dealer before. Regardless, dealer stated only way to buy with no credit check is to actually bring in a suitcase of cash. Is this standard practice?

What about getting a certified check or bank draft from the bank?
That way the money is guaranteed to clear.

If it's just a regular check then I certainly understand the dealer's hesitation and caution.

I agree, a cashier's check is pretty much the same as cash.

Well, they insisted. They ran both my credit and my wife's credit. They said it was policy. They lied their ass off about everything else...so probably just one more lie.
