First Aid Kit

Years ago I came across an accident and felt a little helpless as I had nothing but an old rag in the back of my car that I could use to help a women who had suffered a large gash to her forehead.

Traveling the F3 a few weeks ago, I witnessed a monster accident just ahead of me involving a semi, truck and four cars. I pulled up to help and found the guys in the truck had all suffered head and leg injuries and were bleeding profusely. (no seat belts)

I had never even looked at the first aid kit in our cars but was surprised when I pulled it out and found it is pretty comprehensive. There was enough bandages, pads etc to treat all four guys and stop their bleeding and I was pleased I could assist in some way until the ambulance and rescue squads had arrived.

On the way home I thought about replacing all those bandages etc and figured the cost would be pretty high. I was passing Worthington BMW anyway so asked the parts guys if BMW had a replacement kit. In fact they did and the cost was only $60 which I thought was pretty reasonable. If you've ever priced bandages etc at the chemist you'll know they are not cheap.

When I picked up the kit, Worthington's refused payment. They liked the fact I had stopped to help out so they wanted to bare the cost. Cool!

When I opened the box at home, I found it not only contained the plastic sleeve full of first aid stuff, it also includes the whole plastic box complete with lid that sits under your seat. Now my daughter has the old kit (which still had heaps of first aid stuff) in her car.

Sorry for the long story - just though I'd acknowledge Worthington's for the free first aid kit and let you know that yours in pretty comprehensive in the event you can help at an accident scene.

Well done e93. Goes to show that we all could be involved in these types of incidents at any time, particulary if you're a frequent user of that bloody crap F3. Difference is though, you stepped up to the plate.
I took the time to pull my kit to bits to ensure I am familiar with all the contents after reading your post.
Again well done. Hope you're out there if ever I need some help.
