Removing Swirl Marks

If I have a few marks/light scratches/swirls in a concentrated area of my car, say on the left side trunk/boot door, will i have to polish the whole area of the trunk door or can I minimise the polishing to just the area with the marks?? This is based on using 7424 polisher. Any feed back will be great.

You can try focusing solely on the area with just the marks. You don't have to do the whole panel.
