A Day at Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta
My brother in law and I spent Saturday at the Porsche Experience center in Atlanta and it was too great of an experience to not share with you guys. They have a fairly new test track in Atlanta and I participated in two programs and my brother in law did three.
The first program was the "Master the Manual" experience where I got to drive a manual 911 S and Cayman GT4. Both great cars but the power difference was very noticeable with a nod to the 911 S. The GT4 was a fantastic car as well with a more raw race car feel to it but it lacked a little power in the straights. I guess I'm just used to the power a FBO the N54 puts down. This really made me miss driving a manual. The second experience was truly a once in a lifetime deal. I would probably be lucky to even see another GT3 RS let alone get to drive one. I asked how many GT3 RS' were in the United States and they said around 300. We did the GT academy where we get to drive the GT3 and GT3 RS. What fantastic cars that were truly engineered for track driving. My 335i feels like a huge POS now, LOL. According to the guys at the Porsche Exp. center, we were only the 5th and 6th guys to participate in the GT program. Enough chatting, here are the pics. Looks like fun! I saw a new GT3 RS in my town in that same color a few weeks ago. Sad to say it's probably the first and last time I'll see a 991 GT3 RS

Very cool! Is this your BIL with the M4 or has he moved on to Porsche now?

It was great! Yes, my brother in law with the M4. He does a few track days a year at Sebring through Chin Motorsports. He is threatening to get a GT3 in a few years but we will see what happens.

do you have to own a Porsche to do this? I only live a little over an hour from there.

It's more than just a track too. They have a slalom setup, launch pad (launch control is crazy on these cars) a kick plate that simulates ice and a wet circle that you get to drift around. That was pretty difficult for me. https://www.porschedriving.com/centers/Atlanta |

Awesome! I'd drop $450 any day to hammer a Cayman GT4 for a bit.

It really was! We did Exotics Racing in Vegas for my bachelor party a couple of years ago and this was a much better deal. The track is shorter but a lot of really good turns and straights are long enough to get some good speed going.

Totally agreed. I've done Xtreme Xperience in the 991 GT3 and while 3 laps at Hallet in Oklahoma was fun, I was left wanting more. Just didn't want to stretch the wallet open!

Definately must have been fun. I have family members with a GT3RS and 911 Carrera 4s. Only got to drive the 911 but it's a real treat to drive.
