Worlds Quickest E9X. Ducks 335 Sedan
So I guess I might share my build with you guys if anyone here actually cares haha.
So I'm a 29 year old mechanic from Brisbane, have dabbled in competition drifting and then many years of drifting for fun, owned many different cars over the years GTR's, Silvia's galore, 350z's etc, Have owned a E39 530i as my first BMW, and then a E36 M3 with LS1 swap, E46 M3 with 1jz swap, E82 135i and a couple x5's, e60's, e92's etc. So the 135 was my dream street car I had since they were released, ended up getting it built the way I wanted looks wise. And started ordering things to make it fast, got a twin plate clutch, single turbo manifold, precision etc. ![]() Anyway, some knob head in a dodge nitro pulled out infront of it and wrote it off, bent the rail, insurance deemed it a stat write off and that was the end of that. Kind of got over drifting and decided I wanted something fast with an auto. So the plan was to gut the 135i (which I bought back from the insurance) and make a sweet drag car out of it, built a box and bought an even bigger turbo again and then decided that I had to have a car with rego or it just isn't the same. Always loved e90 sedan's and decided I wanted to build one, the plan was to fin a cheap 320i and convert it with all the 1 stuff I had, but picked up a 335i sedan from the auctions that had hit a kangaroo and barely had any damage, got it for a steal at $4500 so brought it home and the build changed a few dynamics. ![]() I wanted to keep the car registered and nice inside, but at the same time I want the N54 ET record and I don't overly care about driving it every day. The car is nearly at a point where it's ready to kick it in the guts, so here are a few pictures to get you guys excited. This has kind of been a back burner build as I quit my job and was trying to be kind of smarter with money. Basically waiting on the fuel it stuff to arrive and a few things from burger to update my JB. next week I'll get onto doing the dump and exhaust, intercooler piping, modify the intercooler to hold a bit more volume etc. ![]() Made up an adaptor plate to bolt a v8 power glide to the N54 engine, would you believe had to make it myself as no one does an off the shelf adaptor haha. ![]() Using a mate eric's jig we tacked up a manifold for it. Turbo sat up a bit high so ended up dropping it down a bit more before final weld ![]() Did a brake down grade and then got excited with the grinder to fit some 15x8 wheels on the back. ![]() ![]() Mounted the new shifter in the centre console, I really like how it looks. ![]() ![]() Once it's all running I'll repair the the front end properly, just need to repair the bumper and replace the guard, got a carbon bonnet to take a bit of weight out of it, will be painted so you can't notice, just trying to justify a carbon LCI bootlid and some LCI tail lights now. really like the look of them over the early ones. Look forward to any comments/criticism or advice you guys might have. Hopefully it runs a 9 out of the box and once caged and chuted I'll start chasing some numbers. Wow... very impressive build mate. Love the effort your putting into this. The car was a bargain. What garret turbo you running GTX4088r? And what sort of power you looking at putting atw? And 4 speed power glide?
Will follow your build with interest ![]() |

I'm one of those get in and get it done kinda guys. So I tend to forget to take photos along the way.
The dme should be fine. I'm going to recode the car as manual. The 135 I had was manual and the only wires going to transmission are reverse lights. So if I trick the clutch module into working with the TCI shifter as an inhibitor it should work in theory. It's a built 2 speed glide with Trans brake. Only fast and faster needed here. Turbo is a GTW3884 67mm Garrett dual BB. Was cheap as hell new. Spot on fabrications are looking after the dump exhaust and cooler piping this week and then it's onward to making it drive! |

Missus is riding me for not spending any time with her lately so I'm in the dog house.
Finished up all the wiring bar one wire now so that's ideal. Dropped it at spot on performance to get the fabrication done this morning. Hopefully should have it back Friday and then just waiting on my fuel pump setup from fuel-it Not much room anywhere really. Kind of annoying. Wanted a 3.5" dump pipe but just isn't enough real Estate down there. So it's 3" till past the manifold then 3.5" back. Managed to cut the stock gear selector leather boot up enough to go over the TCI shifter. Just waiting on the engineering shop to finish up my billet transbrake button bracket. Basically I have 3 days next week as I fly out for fiji Thursday and get back the day before jambo. So in those 3 days I need to go over everything in the car. Code the car to manual and maybe try delete the dynamic headlights if anyone has a heads up on how to do that. Fit the fuel pump. Fit the catch can from BMS and upgrade chip for the JB4 so I can run the PI properly. Put the front end back on. Put my carbon Bonnet on as the steel one hits the turbo. And then kick her in the guts so to speak and see if it runs, get it on our hub Dyno and see if it puts down some power. With any luck I'll be able to run it at jambo in street class and get booted when it goes faster than 10.0 Fingers crossed anyway. |

A man after my own heart! Powerglide nice! Love the shifter, im just about to pull the quickshifter out of my Torana and fit 1 of these.
What size stall are you using, and what diff ratio? I can see this getting into the high 9's low 10's if the combo between turbo/stall & diff are right!

4000rpm stall, didn't want it to be too loose! It's still a street car kinda. haha
Diff is the stock early auto 3.46 large case. I think I'd prefer a 3.9 ratio but hey, worry about that problem once the car runs. |
