fused cigarette lighter

Hi chaps,

I put my phone charger into the car last night and nothing.

Think my powerpoints are both fused as neither is working.

Any ideas on how to sort this? Is it a warranty job? I have done a search but no luck.

Thanks,
HMI

Get yourself in the fuse box, it's behined the glovebox, try and find the blown fuse and replace it, you should find a fuse removal tool there to.

This may be too simple but was the ignition on? Disappointingly, my lighter socket won't work to power an electrical gadget unless the ignition is on - not just the radio on setting.

Yes with ignition on... I have noticed it won't work unless the car is started.

i will have a look at the fuse box this weekend hopefully.

Where behind the glovebox is it? Easy to get to? And how do I know which one has gone?

Thanks.

Behind the glovebox you should see the fuse cover, which has two black plastic semi fast release buttons, I'm not sure if the fuses are numbered or marked on the inside of the cover, as to what each one is.

found the cover, removed it... think its fuse 30 (a 20 amp fuse). Will get volt meter and check its the right one. Hope it is that simple.

Got a replacement fuse and its all done... working fine now.

Thanks. But such a pain to get to the fuses, couldn't see what I was doing mostly.
