Auto Wipers going mad

Does anybody else have a problem with their automatic wipers suddenly speeding up for no reason.

Mine seem to have a mind of their own. They suddenly speed up even if the rain has not increased. If I turn them off and on again they revert back to their original speed.

I know it's not a big problem but I'm a bit vain and I look like a real spanner with my wipers going 24-to-the-dozen in only light rain.

have you tried adjusting the sensitivity via the adjustable wheel located on the wiper stalk?

The E90 ones actually seem quite good, they get a little excited from time to time, which may be dirt near the sensor. I had them on the VW GTi and they were awful, they didn't go on when it rained and went crazy when it didn't. The BM ones are much, much better.
