Question YACT - Yet Another Color Thread :: Your input appreciated!

In researching color options I am at a crossroads with the color option... so yet another color poll thread

TiAG is the likely outside color, it's the girlfriend's easy favorite and also one of mine. That said I am also partially torn by the SG so I'm leaving that in for good measure

I am certain that I want to go with the classic Burl Walnut wood trim (I like the sport aspect of the silver but I always come back to the Burl).

As for interior leather color, I'm extremely torn between gray and black. I'd love some input from the board... pick your favoirte! It's my first post and will be my first bimmer but I'm becoming very excited and this board has been a wealth of knowledge in researching my upcoming purchase. :rocks:

FYI - From San Diego CA so as they say, it's 75 and sunny 360 days out of the year.

Of course this is a question that has no right or wrong answers. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so the big question is what's important to you.

Personally, I always loved TiAg on the e46 3-series, and thought this would be the color of mine eventually. However, after seeing nothing but silver BMWs, I got tired of that color and wanted something different. Sparkling graphite is a new color for 2006. I chose black leather because I wanted the interior (esp. the dashboard) to be monochromatic. If you order any other interior color aside from black, you get that color + a black dashboard (i.e., not monochromatic). My Ford Explorer had a grey interior, and I got tired of that too.

Thanks man. I tend keep the car longer than the average buyer, so it's gotta keep me entertained.

I pick black with burl for either Tiag or SG...but to distance yourself a little further from the pack ... Tiag or SG with Terra (your choice burl or aluminum) ... looks awesome imho

Out of the exterior color choices you gave, I would definitely, 100%, go with Sparkling Graphite. It's not even close. I honestly don't like the look of this car in Titanium Silver at all. If you want a lighter color, go with Alpine White, but not the TiAg.

For the interior color, with SG, I'd definitely go with the Terra and Aluminium. Absolutely don't go with Grey. If you don't like the aluminium trim, go with Terra and Burl Walnut.

By the way, it's just my two cents, but I think this car also looks amazing in Black (either Sapphire or Jet). The Jet Black, Sapphire Black, Sparkling Graphite and Alpine White are my favorite colors on this car by a mile. The good thing about the non-metallic colors is that they cost $500 less too If you did decide to go with a black exterior, I'd recommend the sand interior with Burl Walnut.

So, to summarize, here are my recommendations:
SG + Terra/Alum
Black + Sand/Burl
White + Terra/Alum
White + Black/Alum

Good luck with your purchase, let us know what you decide.

If you want to look like every other TiAG e90 out there then go with black. I went with gray for something different. I've owned cars with gray, black and tan leather in the past. All have had their pros and cons. I personally like the gray interior on this car. I sat in a TiAG with gray and black before I ordered mine and decided I liked the gray better. It's cooler in the summer and gray leather has weathered better than black for me in the past. I've owned Volvo's and Audi's in the past but this is my first BMW. I agree that the two tone dash with the gray isn't the greatest look in the world but I wasn't as averse to it as others on the board. It's all personal preference. Some love it, some hate it. Pick what you like. I also like the aluminum trim better than the wood but I know that's a holy war as well. No matter what you get you're going to love the car. Lemon interior, now that might be a bit much for me.

My interior is Grey/Burl it rocks! I thought it looked fantastic from the moment I got my car until now. I didn't want Black just because it gets too hot in the summer. My last car had a dark interior so I wanted to try a light interior this time too. I don't have any trouble keeping Grey looking good so far. Colors are opinions, but Grey is NOT putrid. The grey leather goes nicely too with the grey headliner.

grey

I also prefer the grey as it gives a much more airy and roomy feel to the interior than the black. And, if you don't want to tint your windows, it's far more comfortable.
