Aero lip rock chips

I am contemplating buying the front aero lip for me E92. I had the splitters painted on my E90, and they picked up a million rock chips.

For people that have had the aero lip on for a while, have you gotten a bunch of rock chips on it? I might consider clear bra'ing the lip if it picks up too many chips...

Yes, you will get rock chips .... the best thing to do is put some film on the lip.

VentureShield has the 3 pieces for the Aero lip. This is the only place I could find that had the precut pattern, and I checked them all!

Rock chips?? I have no idea what you are talking about.

Of course, I had my splitters protected withh Ventureshield before installation.

The Ventureshield guy charged me $80-$100 for it, and it was a custom cut job at the time last year. I have 3M on the rest of the car. Technically, I believe the Ventureshield is a slightly thicker material, so I was a little insistent on getting Ventureshield on the bottom. Some of the BMW dealerships deal with Ventureshield here, including my own, now.

I can safely say that I will put ventureshield/ClearBra onto the all future cars. It is invisible, and the car finish looks great. The only problems are the windshield and a couple of gaps in the usual coverage. I am the former owner of a pock-marked, black rice-rocket. I had the hood and front bumper repainted about halfway through my ownership. Never again.

mine got a lot of rock chips, but you can really feel it when you touch it, it's even all over the place..
I dont suggest clear bra the aero lip, as you would never know if you would scrape it or not, I'll just leave it like that

You still have rock chips with the clearbra???

Wow. I had my old E90 clearbra'd (on a monaco blue), and I never got rock chips (highway driving and all)...

What thickness did you get?

+1.

You can help it a bit using a something like http://www.drcolorchip.com/. I use this product for road rash. It helps on my aero lip too. But I wish I had just spent some bucks for a clear bra.

My Aero Lip as well as frontal area of hood got rock chipped.

I painted the fronts and panels of my last 330. Unless you have an accident, don't do it. I wish I got ventureshield before on my 335. It got chipped and after some deep chips (I live in rocky area with lost of road ballast) that went all the way to the metal, I started despairing and researching on the boards. Raja did my car two weeks ago. My RAV4 is chippede like hell too and I only have 4K on it. My 335 is lower to the ground so it was getting the worst of it. I don't have a lot of expirience with this, but IMO its the way to go rather than have to repaint at some point. Damn EPA for switching manufacturers to water based paint! Its just not the same any more. These paints are too soft. Yo Raja, where my pictures dude? Send them so I can post them.

Well, it takes one bad experience before you go with the clear bra. I for one had a 99 Accord, beautiful in black, but I noticed the difficulty in polishing and waxing it after 6 months.

Never again....

I wish I had gotten some sort of protection on my front bumper because mine's extremely bad....Only choice for me now is to either get it repainted or buy a different aftermarket one.....
