Having to clean the lemon leather

i am glad i went for the lemon leather but it doesnt half get dirty quick. i have had the car about a month and have done about 2.5k miles in it and the drivers seat was dirty. Ok i do wear dark jeans but still.

I got some leather cleaner/conditioner and they look like new now. Do you know how often you can use this stuff without having any side effects (for the car that is)?

I had the same problem with the beige leather on my last motor.

Its worse if you have jeans on in the car all the time.

Glad a got the black this time.....hides the marks well

make sure you use the OEM cleaners...They sell them at your dealer, and they are excellent! Especially the leather conditioner and cleaner..they also have the dash cleaner that is essential for BMW's...nothing else keeps your interior looking and smelling like new...

this is a very old thread... but i didnt want to start a new one.

are there any new hints to keep lemon leather clean?

what products do you use?
how often do you need to clean your seats?
how long does it take?

are there any products that reduce the sensitivity of lemon leather?

what causes dirt? jeans? also suits?

i so much like to order lemon leather it's just that i would like to know more about the effort needed to keep it looking clean.

thanks for any advice...

First off, let me say that I dared to choose lemon because my BMW is my second car. I have a Fiat Panda as a daily drive and only use the BMW for 'clean' trips

I have owned beige leather interiors before and have found the secret is to clean the seats (especially the driver's) before the dirt has chance to work its way into the leather. I usually give my seat a wipe-down every 500km or so, depending on use. Having tried several products over the years, I am very satisfied with Mer cleaner & Liquid Leather conditioner. They are both available on line from the UK. The cleaner is especially effective and the conditioner does actually restore that leather smell. I haven't actually tried them on my lemon interior yet, as the car is only 2 days old, but I have no doubt they will be effective.

Avoid dark jeans if possible, but don't become too paranoid. The real killer is leather jackets, because the oil in them comes off on the seats very quickly, especially if you use the heated seats function.

I've had my lemon interior car for a while now, since last July.

About every 2 - 4 weeks (depending on visible dirt) I use the BMW Foam Leather Cleaner to clean the seats. I spray ample amounts of foam into the seat - work it in with a white sponge, and wipe the excess off with a clean white towel.

About once every 4 - 6 Months, I use the BMW Leather Lotion to "condition" the seats and moisturise them.

You need to use a leather lotion or cream to "polish" the seats every once in a while - as the leather dries up and looses it's flexibility.

The lemon leather isn't THAT hard to maintain, but if it gets dirty clean it ASAP.

Recently, I use the Meguiars Leather Foam... it works well too :-)
