There are still room for improvements here if you look at the old post I made from carboard box there is no heat shield on the bottom only on top. So basically this is just an add on top. Clearance from the hood is ok, but on the intake needs to be a little higher where most heat is coming from. When you touch the intake after driving its not as hot as before w/o heat shield. I'm still working on it hope to finished it before bimmerfest...

Good job. Now shop it to a Vender.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

First off, awesome work on the heat shield. I'm one in the corner of "who needs cold, it's a turbo car" but it's still a nice design, and for under $10, go nuts!
![]() Second, this may be overlapping discussion with other thread(s) regarding those kinds of scoops, but, I'd be worried on minimal benefit from the "scooped" cold air (this is NOT an NA car, so cold doesn't make much of a difference at all), vs blocking cold air flow to things our cars actually need it for, i.e. radiator and oil lines, etc. A+ for tinkering and trying your ideas, regardless. |
