USB audio?

I just got my 09 328 with the USB connector in the center console armrest. I plug my iPhone in and it starts to charge. When I select USB as my audio source it tells me to"insert USB". Anyone have some suggestions of what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

That connection doesn't work with the iPhone without the special cable that has the 3.5mm aux cable attached to it as well. To use the USB audio source, you need to either use a USB stick with music saved on it, or a regular iPod (Mine works with the small, square iPod that has the screen on it).

At that point will my iPhone "sync" via USB or am I listening via the aux input?

Thanks!

If you are referring only to music playback, you will be listening through the aux input and be able to control it through the steering wheel controls.

For making and receiving phone calls over blue tooth, you'll need to pair the phone with your car.

Can anyone link me to a DIY that can show me how to add the USB, the thumb drive music addition would be perfect for me, and my needs since I no longer have a CD Burner on my computer.

Thanks,
CJ
