Angel Eyes
Hi everyone, there seemed to be a bit of interest for the "Angel Eye" mod so I thought I would do a quick writeup. Essentially, these globes just remove the yellow look of the stock DRLs and give a more classy white light.
I did a half-hearted search locally for the globes but in the end just purchased off eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123 The cost to my door was around AUD$45, the bulbs took 10 days to arrive, here is the package: The photos showing just one side are all from the left light assembly, the photos are all in DRL mode, meaning full voltage to the angel eyes. Installation is very easy, just use the Owner's Manual, use a normal screwdriver to unclip the plastic cover over the light assembly: Inside the light assembly, the globe to be changed has a brown and yellow wire attached. You rotate this 90o anticlockwise and remove the globe: Here is the old globe, you remove the grey connector by bending the two clips: Here is the new globe: Old on the left, new on the right: Both new: Some people have complained about having difficulty installing them, it took me less than 10 minutes and was very straight forward.

35w 55w etc = power = brightness = heat. I am not sure if you could fit a high power globe to the DRLs, there may be heat issues, they get very hot. If you are happy with the look of mine, you want 8500k 35w H8 globes.

Oz, solid work and an excellent post!
You've made it look so simple that I've now ordered mine In the back of my mind though, I have a slight worry as I have seen on your YouTube page that you have also built a turbine engine and that therefore the installation of a couple of light bulbs may be easier for you than it is for a more biologically-oriented soul such as me. |

Ha, that little jet is pretty much plug'n'play The helis are the tricky things to build and operate.
It really is a simple installation, thin fingers do help though, the right hand globe is a little fiddly but a screwdriver helps rotate the assembly.

Great find OzStriker. Purchased mine minutes ago. Thanks for the heads up and the DIY. Shipping cost more than double the bulb cost - LOL

That's the easiest halo upgrade I've seen...e90 is much different. (through the wheel well).
Sweet look with the alpine and real white halo. Nice.

Also try HID lights USA. ******************************
Price for H3 35 watt angel eye bulbs is US$13.98 for 2. You can also change the fog light bulbs to GP Thunder H8 35 watt to match. HID price is US$15.98 for 2. Make sure you only use the OEM wattage to avoid fault codes. I did these mods about 3 months ago and they look good. |
