Getting car wash vs. New Car Smell...

I plan on taking my car to a hand car wash today. As you know, they vaccuum and wipe down the insides, and windex the windows/windshields. Does this reduce the new car smell?

Detailers usually use their own products with their own smells. I have found that going to professional detailers DOES reduce the new car smell. That's why I always tell them to only detail/clean/wash the outside. I do the insides myself.

Depends on what kind of car wash it is. In general, they will still use their own interior cleaning products which have their own smells.

Just wanted to remind everyone that new car smell is bad for one's health.

Cheers.

You can always buy a leather air freshener.

You can always get some Turtle Wax leather cleaner/protector and apply it to your seats. Your car will smell like the inside of a new wallet for a while.

The less chemicals they use inside the car the better.

The smell eventually goes away anyway! Its just the plastics gassing out.

Even wiping the interior down with a damp cloth (my weekly regimen in between dressing and contioning the leather and plastics) will remove the new car smell.

Also driving with your windows down does it too.

They don't smell very 'new car'. More like a call girl's pocket book.

And I would advise against any of these hand wash places. The crap they wiped off the car before you gets rubbed into your paint.

Then you tip them.
