2009 BMW 3 Series WILL NOT get the new iDrive system

A few days ago, we have posted in article in which we proudly announced that the 2009 BMW 3 Series will get the new, update and improved iDrive system. The exciting news were posted on most of the major car blogs and at the time, and everyone got excited about it, including us.

Even though we knew that BMW usually keeps the goodies for their new, completely redesigned models, we thought that things might be different now.

Well, apparently, nothing has changed in the way BMW plans everything. Very well informed sources have shared with us that the new iDrive system will definitely NOT be in the 2009 BMW 3 Series facelift. The improved iDrive system will be part of the 5 Series and it is currently being tested in the 5 series mules.

Sorry to dissapoint you guys, but apparently we need to wait a little longer until we'll get to use the new system.

Hi guys,
just want to share two pics, which i took on my daily way to school. The facelift E90 appeard in my mirror and i took the first pic through the mirror.

The BMW-guy was not very amused and tried to escape on the Autobahn, but i was able to catch him after 3 km..

Pics arent special, but i was really scared, how the engine hood looked in the mirror...

Second pic zoomed:

don't know why, but when you compare the current 3 series E90 to new Audi A4 B8, I prefer the B8....

Thumbs down

Like my 07 alot better. They softened the look a little like the coupe. Not feelin the mirrors. I hate BMW facelifts period. Especially the e46 facelift.

I had an o2 325ci.I think they changed the e46 in 04 or 05 and hated it and they did the same thing to my e90. It looks less sporty. Who gives a shit about LED tailights. Looks like light bright.

^ no LED's on my sedan bro, but I'd still have to disagree, especially with the coupe's up-dated headlights, I prefer the face-lifted headlights on the coupe to my face-lifted sedan headlights any day. I do like the LED tails too, I just didn't want the hassle of error codes and what-not trying to put after-market ones in my sedan, so I went with euro OEM red/clear/red tails and stuck with regular bulbs...

Anyone notice that in the Pics from the German Magazine, the red and grey cars have different lower front bumpers?? Aside from having active cruise, the grey one seems to have longer finishing rods on the smaller outside grills, and the space between the outside grill and the middle grill would appear to be different as well.....

Thats good news; thanks for the info. I was at my dealer today (debating yet again the terra w/ poplar/burl/alum. trim) and my CA said hi didnt expect the facelift to hit the states until after 2010. If this timeline is it I guess that hope of a ZHP or any sort of performance option (suspension?) for the XIs just went from slim to none.
