Help with BBS CH steering wheel vibration. And spacers v centering rings?

I recently installed a set of 19" BBS CHs. The steering wheel shakes when back on forth when I'm driving. The guy at the dealer told me there was probably some 'play' in the hub area; not a perfect fit like BMW OEM wheels. From some searching on the forum, that sounds right. (I don't think it's anything with the balancing since Tirerack balanced them.)

So, do spacers do the same thing as centering rings? Besides pushing the wheel out.

Could the shop that mounted them have done something wrong?

Any ideas?

No in my personal experience spacers will make that problem worse. I have been fighting a vibration for a year. High quality wheels such as BBS should be perfect, no hub play no vibration.

I've had a 19" BBS CH setup before on my E90, no vibrations to speak of. Quality wheels! They were on Kumho Ecsta SPT (great tires just a little noisy).

I've had this set with and without spacer (10mm Rogue Engineering spacers at the rear) and they have been flawless. No extra hardware, stock OEM lug bolts.

I suggest you check balancing and look for damage.

19" CH's don't require centering rings - rings actually enable you to fit a wheel with a greater diameter bore that does not match the center bore of your hub - very different than spacers.

Are you using spacers? By themselves, spacers shouldn't create a vibration problem unless they have buildup that is causing them to not fit right.

Sounds like a balance problem or a tire road force problem. What tires?
