I've been driving around a friend's E46 M3 for the past week and I have to say, it's a fun car to drive! It just begs to be driven. The power delivery is completely different from my S4 (it's awaiting a turbo transplant after pass side snail kicked the bucket) but the driving experience is, dare I say it, better? I feel like the M is a more "in your face" type of feel where the S is a tad more refined but equally as fast.

Anyway, it's sad to see it go. I hope the next reincarnation doesn't disappoint.

A very sexy car and all around awesome car. For me the only car that has been truly timeless has been the 911, but the e46's not just the m3's are still stunning!

Sorry, actually that is what you (want to) hear them say...
But an M is a completely different machine and experience from ny other 3er, no matter how many horses they stick in, or how much you chip it...

funny but real world track tests prove you wrong. stock, the 335 is only slightly slower on the track and this is due in no small part to the lack of a LSD. the e46 was a great car but its time has passed.

the new m3 will make the e46 look ancient and should outperform it in every respect. i love the e46 m3, i almost bought one, but its been put on a pedestal by you guys to the point where you aren't looking at things logically and objectively.

Both the E46 M3 and E9x 335 are overrated.

Nothing funny about that -- I never mentioned 0-60 or a 1/4 mile numbers. If that is what you care about, you should have gotten a Corvette, or something faster (and cheaper). I am just saying overall, the M and the rest are not the same thing...

BMW would never make a non M car faster around a track than an M model (stock atleast). I dont think that the 335 is overrated its a beautiful machine and it will prove itself well on the track just like the e46 has. Just look at some of the e36's on the road that are heavily modded, they would put a new 335 to shame. The point im trying to make is that just because models change with time doesnt mean they lose their distinction, there is something that everyone can walk away with from each generation that brings a smile to the face.
