How do I turn off a traffic announcement?
Hi,
Yes, I know I should read the manual but I don't have it to hand at the mo. ![]() Been out on the motorways today and had the traffic announcements on (TP). Is there a way of dismissing the announcement, but not turning TP off completely? At the moment I have to sit through the entire announcement and sometimes even get the weather too before it cuts back. Just need a button to switch back to CD. Thanks.

Yes.... It's something that's been bugging me for the last four and a half years of BMW ownership!
I was a bit embarrased when Viv pointed out at UK5 that all you need to do is hit the up or down arrow on the right hand side of the steering wheel. ![]()

On the same subject, it's also a pain that you can't restrict the announcements to local ones only. On a Ford (cough, spit ) you can set the TP to TP-L and get local announcements only. Classic FM is okay, but I don't really want to know about traffic in Glasgow on my way in to Cheltenham. ![]()

According the the manual it will give you the strongest signal rather than diferentiating between any preference you may have. Therefore if you happen to have a stronger signal from another station you'll get this instead of the one you want.

The strongest signal always appears to be Classic FM - which in my experience does not provide a comprehensive traffic sitrep. I know that cars with i-Drive do not have a TP button - TP is set on/off by pressing the i-Drive on any channel in "Entertainment". Maybe non i-drive cars have a TP button?

Non I-drive will have one of the buttons configured to turn TP on and off.
Carlostintraffic the TP function is the RDS traffic announcement whereby on receipt of a signal encoded with the radio broadcast to signify that the announcer is talking about traffic conditions 30+ minutes ago the sound system automatically mutes your tunes and gives you the radio instead. Once the drivel is over (or you press the magic button) it switches back to your tunes.
