Question 328xi Coupe Stick vs. 08 G35xS Sedan Auto

What's faster? What handles better? What would win in a straight away?

And.. how sure are you?

I drove both. I would say that the G is faster in a straight line. But the bimmer handles better and offers the better overall package.

G35 coupe is a nice looking car, 350Z is eh...OK, but the rest of Nissan/Infiniti cars are so horrendous-looking now days, that I did not even consider them as an option when looking for a new car.

I'm not talking about what looks better.. I'm asking which is faster? Which would win in a race.. the g35x sedan auto or the 328xi coupe stick

Straight line the G35 should win every time... in a race on a road course that emphasizes handling, the 328 will probably win every time. Drivers being equal.

Faster in terms of top speed? I think the G has a higher limit.
Handling? Subjectivity aside, not sure, but C&D thinks the G35 is pretty close to the 328i in a couple articles.
Straight line? The G is quicker to 60 and 1/4 mile.

Agreed. I think the term used by one of the major publications when comparing handling ability was that the difference is razor thin.

The G35 is faster, but the 328 is the better car overall. My personal opinion but the professionals seem to agree with me.

All I can offer is that the 328 is an amazing car to drive. Feels like it's steering itself. Drives like a dream. Engine rev is so smooth it boggles the mind. And it is very quick. I have yet to use even half of its real potential power and speed. I think if you test drive both you will know in a heartbeat, and you'll probably go for the bmw. Good luck.

2 responses already dude...
i own a 328i and my bro owns the '08 G35 sedan. The G will win in a straight line no matter what. It has rocket launching acceleration... But like others said, the bimmer is the better car overall.

We are not off topic. Read your original post. You ask about handling and straight line speed. What do you mean by faster? Faster as in top speed? Clarify please.
