iPod question.

As mentioned on other threads, I am new here and to BMWs and have a car on order.
I have ordered an iPod connection for it as well as the Logic 7 and the DAB option.
The question is, should I buy an iPod for it or would a memory stick work better. I have about 25gb worth of music and what as much functionality as possible so am leaning towards an iPod, am I correct and are there any ones to avoid?

I will also have idrive Pro if that is relelant.

Thanks

Jonny

If you have 25GB of music, then that won't fit on current USB sticks. So the easy option is an ipod.

That said it is possible to get a USB hard drive to work, so you can have a lot more storage, BUT the USB port does not provide a lot of power, so only certain drives work (mine doesn't for instance).

There is a thread somewhere that details the drives that people have gotten to work.

The sound quality from the USB drive is great since it's pure digital... At least that's what I found.... I got a 40 gig 5,200 rpm 2 1/2" external hard drive for like $40.00 US.

I know there is a thread in the stereo section on the hard drives that people know work.

iPod works great with the car, I would get one if I were you

Get your dealer to throw in the cable because it's another 40.

Seconded. I have the 6FL and iPod "Y cable" and it all works perfectly. Just plug the iPod in and you can browse playlists, artists and albums. Track name is also shown in the head unit.
