brake pad replacement 335?

Hi I have about 14,300 km on my 335 coupe. It's 14 months old. The brake pad service light (front and rear) has just started to light up indicating brake pad replacement is necessary. Does this sound about right? (like a ballpark). Brake fluid level says "ok". I don't drive it too aggressively.

Probably an error, unless your getting a grinding noise. Cure is a software update. Issue is it would probably be an update to 29.?? which has some nasty surprises for people with piggies / mods so something to avoid if your modded.

Would suggest you firstly try to reset the error using the indicator stalk, there are instructions somewhere on this site so a quick search should show you how to do it.

Not 100% certain but rumors are it reports a code back to BMW via the FASTA data that indicates the car is modified (i.e. using more fuel, higher boost etc). The progman version is I think 29.2 that does this.

There is also talk of TQ limitation by the ECU as well.

Most sellers of tunes are working on fixing this issue but I expect it will be some time.

I don't spare the horses and at 64,000 odd kms, my car reports that I have another 20,000kms or so before any brake replacements are needed.

Sounds more like a software error to me as other posters have thought.
