Stranded But Funny

So long story short with just ove 4k on the odometer the GF wants driving lessons! so I ablidge and after about 25 minutes and her actualy doing a good job I decided we need a bigger parking lot to practice in and thats when all hell breaks loose!!! I hop in the driver seat and as soon as I go to take off I can tell something is horribly wrong there is no freakin power and I now have the pedal to the floor!!! and im only taching 3k hmm I said not good!! and then yup you guessed it the dreaded engine light that confirms that yes captn you are now in LIMP MODE!!!! shit the car even tells me engine malfunction reduced power WTF!! the car drives about 500 ft at a time spitting and sputtering like its really pissed then it just diesI get turned around and now im only 2 miles from home so I repeat the business of the car driving dieing and me resetting the comp and doing it all over 57 minutes later I complete my two mile journy and park in a good location for the tow truck to come extract my car down to the dealer! so I sit and press the S.O.S button and in less time than it took to nurse the car back home the car was loaded on a flatbed and at the dearship (6 miles away)! now I am pretty mechanical and knew it was the fuel pump so I wrote right on the repair ticket that I dropped in the night box FUEL PUMP in huge letters I get a call this morning and they sound surprised that I was right the part is instock and being put in as we speak! while I was there I asked about various mods and the affects and got alot of interesting feedback! so yea another fuel pump just glad it happened befor my trip jesus

Fuel pumps don't normally just give out out of no where.. you were definitely seeing the signs for a while no?

Since no one else brought it up -- make sure you file your fuel pump failure with the NHTSA, since they have an open investigation on this which *could* lead to some kind of recall.

Unfortunately, some dealerships wont fix the issue until the pump fails. I went in two or three times with obvious HPFP issues - intermittent long cranks progressing to consistent long cranks, graduating to reduced engine power/malfunction lights/error codes.

Only after being stranded did BMW replace the damn HPFP

It's just irritating trying to read that one huge run-on sentence.
