Alarm software

I took my car in today to get the alarm activated. Towards the end of the day, my SA told me that the software update didn't go through. There's still no audible confirmation when locking or unlocking. SA said that I probably messed up the installation. Now it's gonna cost more money for the tech to troubleshoot. Has this happen to anyone else before? In this kind of situation, you have to wonder if the dealer is telling you the truth or not. Problems activating the alarm has happen to other members.

Dealer still can't get the software for the alarm to work. They gonna keep it for the weekend.

The alarms are taking two days to get the programming, even for those that opted to have them installed by the dealership. Maybe all is totally lost. Mine did take all day one day, over night on the computer and got the call around 0900 the next morning that it was ready. Back in 07 with my first 335 it was a two hour deal. period.

SA just told me that they need to keep car for another night. Something about being shorthanded on techs today. Thats 3 days! Not including Sunday, which they are closed. Is my SA just giving me the run around? Did something happen to my car that they are trying to fix without me knowing?

Any luck on the software update? I think the chirp is user-programmable, so make sure you've got it turned on.

Unbelievable! I had no idea the car would have to sit at the dealership for days just to activate an alarm.

BMW needs to update its software or computers or something. Thats ridiculous.

Yes. They have to update the entire programming in the car. As I was told, they have to go through the entire process of redoing the progman (usually to the latest version) just for the alarm feature to be checked on. Unfortunately they can't just do the alarm portion. If all goes well, it should just take 8-10 hours, which means they let you car sit overnight plugged in. But sometimes the system crashes, and they have to start over, thus...can be multiple days for it to go through and function correctly.
