Are these caliper covers ricey?
While researching how/whether to paint my calipers black (thanks for the write-up in the DIY section, BTW), I came across these powder coated aluminium covers. They are made by this company and appear to be of good quality (need to be at $100 per pair), but do you think they will look ricey on an e90?
Or should I just paint them?

I would just get some good caliper paint and do it yourself, although the car is going to be off the ground for a 24 hour period (you will probably want to put 2 or 3 coatings on it for longer durability). Don't forget to cover your fender just in case the paint blows on it.

what a nice way to trap all the heat. even though it might not be a serious factor.
I didn't know calipers needed heatshield. I thought only intakes did. ![]()

Well, if you're really worried that much about heat the paint will insulate them too, not as much as the cover though. If you do decide to paint them make sure you get paint that will handle higher temperatures. Another bit of advice, take off the calipers, mask, clean, prime and paint them. Don't just take a rattle can and some masking tape and start spraying.
