Unfortunately I think this isn't a possibility.
The reason that the only option for getting rid of the orange diffuser part so far is to swap out the whole headlight for an eurospec headlight is because nobody has been able to open up the headlights, or else you'd be seeing just clear diffusers for swapping already. |

i didnt know that was the case i just thought the orange was affixed to the whole headlight, and not removable.either way the orange has to go

One way I can think of, without changing the whole housing to Euro spec, is by "opening up" the housing. I mentioned this before, S2000 has the same type of headlight as E90 as well. It has the orange reflector inside the housing. I knew S2K owners were able to open up the housing and take the orange part out, but this required cutting the seal of the housing and "baking" the headlights. Its kinda complicated. I am sure someone on this board knows about this. Anyone owned a S2K??

The clear cover is glued tightly to the rest of the headlight assembly using butyl glue. There's definitely a lot more glue than on the S2K headlight and it seems like it's not possible to get the E90 headlight open using the baking method (I've tried). There's so much glue and it's so thick and abundant that it's hard to get any portion of headlight open without damaging the assembly itself. Also there's so much glue that by the time you bake the headlight for a long enough period and high enough temperature to get the glue to a soft enough form to work with, you're at a temperature/duration that is starting to destroy the plastic headlight assembly itself. You could probably crack open a part of the assembly somehow but I don't know how many owners are willing to do that. This seems like a highly desirable mod so I'm sure there will be many others out there who try to bake and open the headlight and maybe someone will be able to get it open, but based on my experience it may be too difficult a job for most people to try (too much risk of damaging or destroying the assembly). I don't know if BMW made the headlights like this on purpose to prevent every owner from switching to non-DOT approved clear diffusers, but in any case that's the effect. |

Since the "baking" option isn't working, I guess we have to wait until aftermarket ones come out. Sighhhh
