iPod Classic Audio Quality? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Another ipod question. I was all set to upgrade my 5th Generation iPod (the so-called 'iPod Video) to a 6th Generation 160 Gig 1Pod 'Classic'. But a friend of mine bought one and he hates it so much that he is now selling it. Having listened to his, and even taking into account that he prejudiced me against it slightly, I definitely have to agree with him that the sound is harsher, thinner, and less 'warm' than my old 5th Gen iPod. As someone said, it's like you are listening to the music through some sort of synthetic audio gauze, and it really could drive you mad eventually.

Anybody here have any comments on the iPod classic's audio quality?

What sort of bit rate have you and your friend encoded your music to?

As i've been thinking of doing the same as my collection is too big for the 80Gb ipod's so I have three Ipod's. I'm holding back for a 250Gb one if they ever release it.

Nope just had lots of time a few years ago to rip everything I owned to Lossless AAC. Until they sell lossless AAC downloads I'll carry on getting CDs and ripping them to lossless AAC

If you have an ipod dock can you try listening to music via that rather than the headphone socket?

With an ipod there is a big difference between the two in terms of music quality
