Top Gear is BACK!

Yay, NEW SERIES starts tonight on BBC2 at 8pm (Sunday 22nd June)!

Richard, James and Jeremy test new police cars (got to do something to catch the DXB), introduce a NEW team member (hope its not Sir Carloswah of Fandango), and offer advice on dealing with rising fuel prices (buy an M3). With guests Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins.

Top Gear is my favourite show on TV... just ahead of Richard & Judy and Chucklevision...

Haha, the RV episode was classic.

I wonder if episodes will be up within 5 hours. Then I can download it and watch it by the same time tonight here.

You're not the only one who thinks he's an arrogant appendage.

Thank God for that! I find a lot of people who are into cars seem to like Clarkson becaus eof that and ignore the more obnoxious aspects of his personality. The man can't write a car review without bringing his unpleasant views and opinions - about women/immigrants/trees/you name it - into it. He's a walking 1980's throwback.

Ok, said my piece. James May is pretty cool.

No, I don't really like Clarkson either IMHO he doesn't seem to be as knowledgeable about cars as he makes out as every review he ever makes seems to be more bitchy than knowledgeable.

Richard Hammond and James May seem to have more knowledge, perhaps Clarkson would come accross in a better light if he just got on with talking about cars!

Hmmm well didnt watch all of it....kind of says something....lovely Ferarri (obviously) but why did JC spend half the review slagging off the technology then admit that he shouldnt??!!! He's become a bit too "Clarkson" these days....

Have met him a couple of times and on those occassions he certainly struck me as "alright"....I suspect that he is encouraged to be more and more obtuse just to make "good" telly....

Seems to me that TG is following a similar transition to Pistonheads........

Clarkson always has been arrogant and opinionated, but I just take his ill informed comments with a large handful of salt. Have to say that I found the programme a bit patchy. Enjoyed the police cars, but they were classic TG, working a well established formula. T

hought the stunt piece was a space filler and found myself wanting some actual information about some actual cars, rather than the need to constantly seem to be 'entertaining'. Perhaps the show has seen its best days?

Thats always been his formula hasn't it though?

I've got a couple of the compilation books of his newspaper articles and he always starts of with something only vaguely connected to the car he's writing about.

So half the article is about the EU or similar, then the second half is about the car and he almost always ends up contradicting himself.

The ferrari piece was in the same mould. 5 mins about technology this and that and how computers in cars remove the soul, then 5 mins to say that the scud has actually got more soul than anything else they have produced for years.

I don't like listening to Jeremy Clarkson but, having said that, would prefer him hands down to having to listen to Richard Quest.

I'm the opposite. I can't get enough of Clarkson and Top Gear. It's such a refreshing change from the quality of most of the North American automotive journalism.

Motorweek - ZZZZZzzzzz

Car & Driver TV (when it was on) - this is going back a couple years but I wanted to punch Larry Webster out every time I watched it.

Just to name a couple...

James May looks like a homeless.(homeless, not homo fieldingmellish)

Clarkson may be a relic but is still far funnier and blunter than anyone on tv and that is to be applauded in this day and age.

+1 - it's a fab show - yes it is very scripted etc and the 'themes' are quite similar - find me an entertaining program on tv that isn't the same every week!

A lot of effort goes into the making of it and yes they could drive the new SSanygong crap-mobile and comment on it's 4x4 non ability - but does anyone really care?? For more in depth car reviews they have their magazine and web site.
