Hi,

I have had some problems with my car when I start to drive and the engine is cold. The engine is not smooth at all for the firs 5km and I do not know is this a problem or more like a feature.

The car has only 30tkm so it should be in excellent condition and it is maintained more than well.

Has some one had similar problems? Is there a official answer for this from BMW?

do you have the n53 with direct injection?

I found a code from the driver side door. It says N52B30A. Does this provide the engine type N52?

yeah take it to the dealer. I think there is a software update to correct that problem..

Thanks I will do just that. Is there a way to check what is the software version in the car? I had a maintenance for it about 2 months ago and requested for complete software update for idrive and the engine eg. it was about 130€ -> ~180$.

So they probably just updated the idrive...

Any ideas on the following... The BMW service told me that the warranty does not include software updates eg. Is it the same in US? Is it not a bit stupid... if you have a software related problem in your car they do not fix it under warranty but mechanical problems are ok. How stupid is this!

I would complain about the mechanical problems with the rough idle and juddering when cold and explain to him that the software fixes that. These issues should be covered under your warranty. Plus, you could have another problem unrelated to the software. You could also try another service center to see if they will fix it under warranty.

The following software errors were corrected with the release of Progman 20.00.00 (Target data Status E89x-05-12-500).

Engine juddering/idle speed surging when it is cold. N52 engine.

No customer complaint. The following faults are stored in the JBE (Junction Box Electronics) erroneously. The JBE must be recoded to correct these faults.

Door Mirror Heating Left – 0xA6DE

Door Mirror Heating Right – 0xA6DF

The fuel gauge reading is incorrect. The fuel gauge indicates higher than the actual amount in the tank.
