It's arite..

The front seems like it'll steadily appear better looking to me, but it's not instantly great. The hood crease in the middle is unnecessary. The LEDs in the tails are nice, but the design itself is eh...still needs blacklines (which will probably more expensive now with all the LEDs)..

The bigger side mirrors are welcome

Are you kidding me? The e90 had the plainest hood ever. It was a vast plain of nothingness.

they should have just taken the m3 look (coupe body panels front on sedan) and thrown them on the e90.

only thing i can appreciate is a better idrive system. i think i got ripped off big time on the current idrive. its the biggest POS buggy device ever.

can someone post a m3 sedan, the new LCI, and the 135i nose pics along each other?

I bought a 2008 a couple months ago. I don't care about the looks of the 2009 much one way or the other. I like the tail lights, but I think the new hood looks busy. It wouldn't be a big enough issue to stop me from buying it if I were in the market for a 2009 though.

I didn't get Nav on my 2008 because it was too expensive for what it was, but maybe they have improved it enough for 2009 that I would have got Nav if I had waited and saw the new system.
Will it let you search Google Local for restaurants from the car without needing to go to a PC? I heard about the feature where you can go to a PC and have the address sent to the car, but that's nowhere near as convenient as having access to the live Google database from the car seat.
Will the radios now finally show you progress times and track times?

So, are the sedan and wagon going to stick with the 6-speed auto for another year?

I am wondering why it took 3 years to figure out that the folding middle seat rear headrest would work perfectly on the left and the right side as well.

Must have been way too advanced a concept to include at the original E90 model launch...

The car will now have active head-restraints for anti-whiplash protection, it was the only car in the class not too offer something along those lines and in all honesty they need to make this thing score perfect in safety tests after the 5 series debacle... the front hood design also reflects added pedestrian safety.

Not in the case of the e90 in my opinion, well, at least in regards to the hood.

Unlike the e92, the e90's hoodlines flow farther outside, and run along the inside edge of the headlight housings, whereas the e92's hood is perfectly detailed, with the lines running closer together and meeting at the outer edges of the kidneys. There's simply too much emptiness in the current e90's hood imo. I've seen these new hoods at the BMW factory and (again imo) they look 100% better.

There's basically nothing in this facelift that I don't like. I usually find BMW designs virtually flawless after facelifts anyways.

I agree that the e92 hood with the lines ending at the kidneys outer edges looks better than the original e90 - it kind of emphasises the kidneys. The lines on the new e90 hood on the other hand almost splits the kidneys by ending between them. It also makes the the car seem a bit more narrow.

Maybe a combination of the original e90 and the e92 would have been better

Sorry forgot to mention that I'm happy that here in Egypt, we have a complete manufacturing line for 3/5/7 Series.

Egypt is the only Country that has BMW Production Line in all the World after Germany.
and they made this facility to cover the country hunger for the bmws

Hate to tell you they do not manufacture cars there. They assemble them from kits. Nothing is produced in Egypt; nothing. The only reason BMW pays contractors (not BMW) to assemble cars there is b/c Egypt taxes imported items at a ridiculous rate which would eliminate the sales of cars there. Cars assembled in Egypt are not exported outside the country.

There are several other facilities throughout the world where BMW does the same thing, China is the largest market of this technique, followed by Russia.

From:BMW
Worldwide assembly plants.
The BMW Group strategy of ensuring that production is tuned to market demands around the world also applies to smaller markets with worthwhile potential, in which customs regulations may, for example, complicate the import of complete automobiles. In such areas, the BMW Group manufactures automobiles from parts kits in assembly plants. This is the so-called “Completely Knocked Down” (CKD) production process.

In the CKD process, certain parts and components are packaged as kits in precisely defined assembly steps and exported for assembly in the respective countries. These kits are then supplemented with locally manufactured parts in the partner countries. Assembly takes place on location with adherence to the BMW Group's global quality standards.

Currently, the BMW Group uses CKD assembly to manufacture automobiles with partners in six locations (Thailand, Malaysia, Russia, Egypt, Indonesia, India).

EDIT: Forgot to mention that BMW actually manufacturers and produces (not only assembles like above) cars in Roslyn South Africa, Spartanburg South Carolina USA and in Graz, Austria via Magna Steyr.

I'm guessing they did that so that the rear wheels actually look flush against the fenders, and not all tucked in like the current ones.... This is the reason so many current E90 owners (like myself) purchased aftermarket spacers for the rear wheels.

That's really interesting, BTW... I had no idea that companies actually were doing stuff like this...

You sound like a guy with a small penis, over compensating for this fact. . .just relax, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally I think it's going to look badass once the after market parts hit the scene. . .

When I originally discussed this widening in May, people did not buy it, they did not see the point. It was partially for cosmetics and partially for increasing handling. When developing the //M sedan it was discovered that by simply tweaking the rear a bit the handling improved and with all of the new competition out there BMW is using this slight tweak to their advantage for looks and cornering. I was never told the specifics fully but I am sure it will come out over the next several weeks (after most of the 2008 models are off the lots.)
