Gruppe M Sweetness

Yeah i ripped myself off as I couldn't get to sleep knowing that gruppe m has always been praised to high heavens by people who have it, and slagged off by people who swear by reps and other brands which will do the same, if not better.

Honestly, the sound revs coming from a rumbling low 2.5k rpm to a loud growling at 3k rpm all the way thru to a good bodily howling at 4k rpm more than makes up for it. May nt be fast but I'm a SFX himbo I guess. Yummy!

You need to adjust the attachment between your plastic intake tube (where the MAF sensor is) and the K&N filter base. It will bring the front of the GruppeM cover close to the that brace that goes over your radiator. It should be flush without any gaps. The idea is that it should shelter the filter from hot engine heat.

You may have to play around with the filter itself. Rotate it and see how it changes the position of the entire assembly. The filter is designed to be off-center for the purpose of adjusting it.

Now your finishing is perfectly flush and I'm definitely going to make adjustments to it. It's hard for it to fit as flush as urs though. I must be getting something somewhere wrong..

It's mostly about the connection between the black plastic intake tube and the blue K&N filter tube. As I indicated earlier, also rotate the K&N filter base (which is black color) and see how it affects the fitment. You may have to pull a little bit on the plastic intake tube. I believe it had some accordian like portions that were flexible.

Oh man, that looks and sounds great e33extra/ksfrogman. I would really love to get that for my E92, but to be honest, I have this OCD thing about the "fitment"--even though it's just fine, I would want the lines to run the way it does for the E90 for the E92

Aren't the lines such as the hood and engine bay different between the E90 and E93? That would create not so less perfect fitment when you put a Gruppe M intake in a E92/E93.

I was remiss to notice that this was an E93. Yes, the lines are different on sedan vs coupe.

Okay, so what were the dyno results? Did you see any HP gains? I know it rely's on ram-air effect, but I would think you'd see some type of gain on the dyno.

^Im pretty interested in seeing that as well. I always loved the sound of the Gruppe-M.. Sometimes I'm really tempted to just get it, even though the fitment isn't right on.

most people i know forget to remove the plastic rubber plug on the bottom after removing their OEM airbox. as a result, there will be the gap..

if you already removed it, just loosen the bolt of the airbox a bit, and nudge it around until it fits!

I just installed my Gruppe-M intake in my E92 328i and yes you need to do some minor cutting on the very bottom of the CF Intake housing. Because there is a brace which is bolted from the frame to the body. So if you don't do the minor cutting it well not sit flush on the bottom and you will have a gap. I'll make a new thread and post some pic's up so you can see that mines sit flush and it does flow with the lines.
