I just found out that my town is jacking up our property tax by 20%

Which means that I pay what would equal a years worth of a $55,000 car payment or a whole freaking apartment FOR A YEAR.

Anyone else sick of this bullshit? I'm planning on moving out of my town, no town is worth this much.

You pay higher taxes but in NY, theres a 4% city tax. Either way, youre screwed.

Shaf, what town do you live in? Is this for all of NJ?

I didn't get anything in the mail about property tax increases.

This isn't for all of NJ, just my town, which is Nutley. This is fucking ridiculous because it's a nice town but not nice enough that makes it worth an extra 20%.

Yet the whole state gets a miniscule rebate ($600-800)

my pay doesnt go up 20% so why the fuck should my property tax?

They increased our sales tax on a promise of property tax relief. So steal from me now and maybe pay me back later? The politcs in NJ is downright retarded.

Long island has some pretty high taxes as well. But we dont pay the 4% city taxes. My taxes are at $9K a year.

good thing my town has an abatement for 20 years and i still pay 10k a year

Sux yes but if you move somewhere else you will make less money and be in the same overall situation. Most people I know that move end of coming back.

My company has an office in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area so I may move there. I just can't believe I'm spending so much on property tax. Mad icon is barely sufficient.

yeah... or... you can move further away from work and make up the difference in time and commuting expense.. there is no escape.

Better yet.. move to camden, irvington, newark, elizabeth, or somewhere like that.. taxes are pretty low..
