Newbie Question Again!

My E90 should be here in about 10 days and I've started shopping around for a deal on winter tires.

I'm getting a 335xi sedan with sport-kit and it comes with the Style 162 18" rims.

In a previous thread I was told I can run 225/45/17 winter tires. My question is I'm still confused about the wheel size, especially the whole off-set thing.

Will at 17x8 rim with 38mm offset & 5x120 bolt pattern fit?? Tirerack says yes, 1010 tires says no.

8.5 is stock on the 17's but you'll be fine. My 19's are a 22mm offset with a 9.5 inch wheel in back.

The issue is with an oversize breaks we've got. Going by just the numbers it will be hit and miss, some models fit and some don't. I've got my winter setup om M3 replicas and they fit fine. No rubbing. My advice would be to choose style/model you like and call tirerack or even better hit our "local" expert in a wheels and tires section of this forum.

that offset is fine, don't worry about the breaks, they fit in the stock 17"s.

Not all 17" designs will fit over the brakes. It will depend on the design of the wheel.
