Getting the Sports Package Suspension AFTERwards
I am at a loss. I really want to lower my car now, I have standard suspension. I have 20" rims, so I want to lower my car, but I don't want to lower it too far and risk rubbing. I saw NatureBoy's car, and I see he has the sport suspension. I wish to lower it to that height.
The concern I have is that say something goes wrong and BMW blames my lowering of the car. In order to prevent this, I was hoping that I could take my car to the dealership and have them put on the sport springs? Would that solve this problem, would they charge a buttload more? Has anybody tried/thought about this? Any advice would help, thanks.

Just get a set of h&r sports or eibach prokit springs, some shocks and your there! Don't worry about warranty problems. Naturboy has H&R Sport springs, nit the sport package springs on his car.
Don't go the dealer route with zsp parts, it's cost sooo much more and it will not be as solid as aftermarket springs and shocks. Danny

I'm sure when the dealer see's your ride on 20's, they will not warrant anything on the car. Just get some Eibach's or H&R's and you'll be set. G'Luck!

I don't want to run into any warranty problems. I don't think the dealer would care about 20's....why would they? It's not like it rubs or anything.

because there's a sticker (on my car anyway) in the upper left corner of your windshield that says something like "installation of any non-BMW electronics, accessories, aftermarket wheels blah blah blah may void your warranty" and my guess it they are looking for any reason to get out of their obligation.

yes, karbosshack is right, keep the original rims and tyres, springs/shocks. anything major happen (touch wood) to your car, you can always switch them back and bring the car back to the dealer and shout at them

NaTuReBOY initially had the H&R Race Springs, but these rubbed his 20" wheels. He then switched to the H&R Sport springs. Both the H&R Sports and the Eibach Pro Kit springs will be slightly lower than stock ZSP springs, the Eibachs being the more conservative of the two height-wise.

If I go with the Eibach kit, and something goes wrong with my car, how difficult/how much money will it be to replace it back to the originals so that I can send it in to the dealer?

Unless they can prove that the modification caused whatever went wrong, the change should have no impact on your warranty. A number of us paid around $350 total for the springs with installation.

I asked my local dealer and most of them were in agreement that if you modify anything without using OEM parts the warranty will be nullified. They couldn't even tell me how to go about lowering it to keep the warranty. Damned if you do or fall short on looks.

I just saw the listing for the ZSP springs
its actually $210 plus $35 shipping. Can ZSP springs be mated to non-zsp shocks with no ill effect? If aftermarket shocks are required, will it be hard to match those with the OEM retrofit ZSP springs? And who should you look for (in local area) to do the install? The dealer? regular mechanics? Any of the nation wide chain shops e.g. Midas etc?
