Sig is known for their non-polymer pistols: P228, P229, P226, P220, etc. Here is what is being said about SIG currently: http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=83494

just check out the gun really well, make sure there's no rust or excessive wear, and if it looks good, any gun should be good to go, used or new. the first gun i bought was used and it still can fire 500 rounds in one sitting just fine.

Those will be the three I shoot for sure. I'm just worried about going to a pawn shop and buying a gun that was mistreated on the inside(e.g didn't clean it). I guess PS's should see it before they buy it.

Best advice I could give to you Collins is to go out and read and learn about firearms from reputable sources before buying one. Go out and shoot with someone who can teach you the proper fundamentals, safety techniques, and maintenance skills that are necessary for responsible gun ownership.
When you buy used, you never know what you are going to get. A gun with a trigger job? Gun with a bad striker? How much will it cost to replace the striker assembly? If you yourself DO NOT know what to look for when buying a used gun, do not buy a used gun.

If you are looking for something fun to shoot at the range, I would go with a full sized frame, longer barrel increases accuracy, more weight reduces recoil and you can shoot more comfortably for longer. |

Just guessing this thread is still loosely associated with handgun enthusiasm...please disregard the few WW II German antiques in the background; as I collect militaria and am aware of the political correctness some of you lads might bring to the show, please try to recall your sensitivity training so as to "understand" an old fart's simple interest in history...
![]() For your perusal; a couple 1911's, all Colt. The little guy at the lower left is my everyday carry gun, a Talo-commissioned light weight Commander, Officers frame, modified with VZ "G-10"(phenolic) grips & Wilson combat mags, quite a slim little rig which snicks quite neatly alongside the lower-back, particularly when contained in a Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe IWB holster. Oh darn, a couple rifles might have slipped into the room, those rascals just won't be bothered with everyday manners... ![]() Thanks for looking, O Edit; Deleted images. ![]() Last edited by Oregon; 12-27-2012 at 09:25 PM. |

Not bad, my local range won't let you rent a gun unless you bring one of your own, or if you are with a friend. I guess they don't want people comiting suicide on the range.

TLR-3 light or other for your gun...especially for home defense. Or you'll have to train with a flashlight in the non-shooting hand. Cross hand or rise flashlight above your head/shoulder
Some guys change their sites...for home defense it doesn't matter, but for range it might. Grips...since not all guns fit all hands....being tall you may want fatter/wider grips. Trigger...I usually don't mess with that since I dont shoot competition anymore.

Nope, but I dont actually live in the City, NW Suburbs, although not legal in IL period. I do carry when I visit my mother (South of Chicago). Can't get mom to move out of the old neighborhood. A gang-banger was executed 50 yds from her house last Fall, single shot to the back of the head. I do have the Utah CCW license
So, I can carry anywhere outside IL except WI and MI. Comes in handy when I have to visit Hammond, IN and drive down to Arkansas (in-laws). Dont get me started on the retarded Chicago gun Laws. At least the Supreme Court overturned their Ban on gun ownership.

No add-ons. Spend money on ammo/spare magazines and learn to shoot it.
