330/325 strutbrace won't fit on a 335. ADHD tried and got lot's of rattling noise.

Thanks for the info, I read his posts. On the BMW website in the accessories section, an STB is listed for the 335. I wonder if this STB will work without noise. Unfortunately no part numbers were listed so I couldn't compare.

I wonder if we can get somebody with a metal/machine shop to re-create this strut bar for members. It's certainly not a high tech piece of equipment, and as long as the dimensions are right, should be no-brainer for a shop to reproduce, and could be done for a lot less than $200+.

I've got a next-door neighbor that owns such a shop...maybe I'll talk to him. I'm sure he'll want an original so he can get the dimensions and angles from it.

Does anybody know the material of construction of the OEM strut bar? Is it aluminum, or 316, or?

ok my friend who works on cars all the time said that its an inverted hex bolt; imagine a hex(star) but inverted. its like a star but it has to go over it like a bolt, not into it like a regular hex. he has seen them but its very rare. i cant find this anywhere!!! help!

I just got a note from the guys at Morristown -- they are great, best prices, super fast, good info -- regarding the strut brace for the E90 335. They say that it fits the E90, but not the E92. Has anyone installed the brace on an E90 335?

OK looked at the strut brace bolt, it is an odd one like fizzle described, a hex bolt but with indented sides (rather than flat surfaces on the bolt sides, they V in the middle). I forget the name for them.

Great news, but can anyone confirm the fitment on a 335? Thanks

i doubt it. the e90 330 and e90 335 are the same body so what would be the problem?

Apparently the height of the engine cover is higher in the 335 causing the noises/fitment issues.

not according to crown auto:

51 71 0 406 937 is the part number if you go to parts.crownauto.com and type in the part number it comes up multiple times for e90 325, 328, 330, and 335 as well as the e91.

I agree and have done this search. The issue arose when a member actually installed this bar on a 335. Since I last read that post about the noise, I have not found anyone with a 335 that has successfully installed the bar without the noises (at least not anyone that has staked that claim). I am looking for confirmation by a 335 owner that has successfully installed the bar and has no issues, noise or otherwise. Thanks.

From what I understand, once the engine moves/vibrates contact is made between the STB and the engine cover. Thanks for your input though. Please let us know how it feels after you have a few miles logged. Thanks.
